Ready to move on up and haul out!

Been practising the accent all day in preparation.;)

Anyone else joining up the the Rockstar Social Club to nab some of the extra's they give out for doing things in the game as well as giving you a few freebies right off the bat.

Gonna throw it in for an hour before the footy tonight. Worked late last night and had my DT and SC to attend to.

My little boy is sick today, so i had to stay home and keep him entertained. Once he's in bed, i'm firing Red Dead up. Can't wait.

WOW! This game is by far GOTY so far. Friggin' amazing! :thumbsu: :D

I was also enjoying a leisurely horse ride when a guy came running up to me to tell me he is a long way from home and needs a ride, thought I'd do the right thing and stop, he then walks up to me, grabs me and throws me off my own horse! He then proceeds to ride off while I give chase on foot but before he got too far away I shot him in the back.

Haha! I had a similar scenario happen to me, except on this occasion what looked to be a damsel in distress being robbed on the side of the road by a gang of mobsters, actually turned out that she was in fact apart of their gang.

She was on the ground next to her horse and cart crying out for me to save her, and as I approach the 5 guys suddenly turn their guns on me asking for me to surrender my coin. I then proceed to drop each one with a bullet to the head before they can even contemplate firing a shot off at me.

I then walk over with my smoking rifle pointed at the woman's head who is shuffling back in the dirt pleading for me not to kill her because she was simply forced into participating in the attempted robbery of me. I hold out some more and she cries that she will change her ways and in return for not killing her I can have all of the stolen money her gang had accumulated.

Stupid bitch... if I wasn't so kind hearted I would've let her eat lead like her outlaw cohorts. :p ;)

Oh, and another funny moment that comes to mind was at the saloon where I was attempting to walk through the hordes of drunken men and hookers towards the room I just bought in order to get some shuteye. Of course I encounter a horde of hookers as I walk up the stairs, promising that '...A man of my size could do to them what I pleased'. One, however, gets in my path and I bowl her over by accident into a chest of drawers at the top of the stairs, but not before slamming into a window and cracking it with her head.

Genuine LOL's were had! :D

my god, what an awesome game.

I didnt play today but put a solid few hours in last night, very impressed and I am not easily impressed. I think though it wont be very good on second play through because half the time you have to listen to dialog and shit when you start missions, but it is enjoyable on the first play through thus far.

Haven't wandered out too far. done some bounties, finding it difficult to bring them in alive. I've almost unlocked my first costume and can't wait to see what happens when I do.

I also have the new horse, it is pretty good though I still suck at trying to keep to a path.

Haven't come across any glitches yet though I know it is only a matter of time.

The main character sucks in the way that he is married and isn't ****ing all the cowgirls and whores etc, would have been awesome if you could slam a few.

so far so good

I was on my way to get a bounty and I was taking a short cut and ran into a bunch of guys. I drew my rifle just to get a better look at them. Next thing I know I'm fighting off about 15 of them and in the end get a reward from some rancher they were stealing cattle from. And I completed a mission some how.

And then I went and got the bounty. This game rules.

Ok you have to do this (hopefully the same thing happens to you as it did me). Go up to the stagecoach and pull a gun on the driver. When he runs off screaming in terror get into the carriage. Not the drivers seat, the carriage. Something cool should happen.

I love the randomness of this game. I was riding through the desert when I spotted a deer. I killed and skinned it and jumped back on my horse. All of a sudden, a cougar comes out of nowhere and kills me and my horse before I even had a chance to defend myself. Usually at something like that I'd be pissed. But because of how awesome it was I just laughed in amazement

Epic session with HBK earlier, turns out you can't fist fight a bear, they don't go down :thumbsd:
Was awesome and epic.

The bears were disappointing. 3 shots to take them down and you even took one down with a throwing knife. Would've loved if they were massive beasts that took at least 10 shots and could barely be handled by 2+ men trying to take one down. Would bring more of an epic feel to fights against bears.

Other than that it was VERY fun in free roam. And I can't wait until we get our posse of (hopefully) 8 and start creating shit. That will be the most epic fun there can be. We will knock off the $11,000 bounty record.:):thumbsu:

I love the dynamic world that you're in. You never know what's going to happen and that's exactly how it should be in an open world game. The variety of things to do really brings back memories of San Andreas. Only this is lifted even higher by the online and free roaming elements.

I love that the first animal you can ride in free roam is a donkey and that eventually you can ride Buffalo and Bulls and other animals before the ultimate horse (which I assume would possibly be the War Horse).

If by cool you mean sit there and wait for nothing to happen... :D

Is this any good? Heard it was but I didn't like GTA IV and it's overly stiff controls. I liked Fallout 3 though.

Awwww..........When I did it, 5 seconds later the carriage vanished and I dropped to the ground. But the horses were still there so I stole one.:D

This game sounds so awesome, I'll grab it this arvo!!

HBK; multiplayer in this is similar to Borderlands?

If so.... HELLS YES!

Borderlands multiplayer is very different.

In that you would just go through the story with an extra few people, in RDR there are a few things you can do in Free Roam, but most of the stuff is TDM and FFA and the like.

The multiplayer is better though I would say, as you can have 16 people in the world roaming around at once.

Got this yesterday. My first impressions are "wow!". Everything just clicks perfectly. The gameplay definitely feels GTA inspired, but the game world & atmosphere feel totally out of a western. Sometimes when I'm not doing missions, I just find myself admiring the beautiful world so much that I actually feel like I'm in the wild west. I haven't felt such a connection to a game world since TES IV: Oblivion.

The detail in both the environment and it's inhabitants is stunning, and there's so much to do. A 2 minute journey in the game normally takes me about 20 minutes because I'm always getting distracted by the things around me. I might find a carriage being raided, a damsel in distress, a nice group of deer to hunt or I might get attacked by a pack of wolves. There's a lot of diversity in "random events" that really makes the world feel alive. It's quite an achievement by Rockstar. I'd tip my cowboy hat to them, if I had one. :thumbsu:

It's great so far. The story isn't fast paced at all and the entire game really builds on just being a go at your own pace type of thing (for example, there are camp sites up at certain places and you can go and just sit and listen to people talking). But it still feels like the right pace.

Gameplay wise, there's inspiration from GTA, but it is far more streamlined. The cover system is VERY good and really smooth. The aiming is simple enough (although the auto aim is a bit strong, but goes off after a second of aiming at something, so basically snap to auto aim).

The world is hugely like Fallout 3 though. Almost Fallout 3 pre-war. Very well realised world and absolutely MASSIVE!

It's hard to say TBH. The free roam isn't really like Borderlands but it is still VERY fun.

Free roam acts as a make-shift lobby in a way. You can just do your own thing with other people in there or go into a proper competitive match. That's not to say there's nothing to do though. You can go to camp settlements and complete missions and gain XP through that or you can just have a good old fashion firefight against the law and increase your wanted level for as long as you can hold out. There's plenty more to do as well.

It's all VERY fun still.

There will be proper co-op missions out next month that will be free as well.

it doesn't alter anything about your character stats for multiplayer or affect your wanted level in the single player game i'm assuming?

Has anyone done the flowers side quest yet? Many lulz were had when I completed it

This game is great. It's grand theft auto's engine in a world it was meant to be used in. There are stiff moments where you are wondering why can't I jump over that or why is he jumping that short, but it's not a platformer so you won't be frustrated much. There are GTA moments including if you walk into people they will fall over weirdly.

Does anyone know how to tell a good horse from a bad one?

I ****ing killed the horse you get from herding the wild horses by jumping off a high hill. The 'pearl' coloured one that I called Golden Boy. That horse seemed to be awesome! Still there's no point letting him go to waste *licks lips*.

Right now I'm just going by on any horse that looks good and doesn't look like a cow or a bunch of cats taped together is ok.

If you go to a general store there will be deeds to a horse with a 1-3 star rating and how fast it is, use the descriptions there to try and get a good one.

The pearl coloured one is alright, but not brilliant.

If you buy a deed to a horse then you basically get infinite lives for the horse, without a deed it only needs to die once for you to lose it.

Just did a bit of research, apparently the golden/pearl horse you get from that mission is one of the 3 best horses in the game (a 3 star) and is the most balanced of those 3.

It's a kentucky something or other.

The game has a wikia site up so check that out.
