IT gets worse for Richmond. The latest injury blow has Bachar Houli with a syndesmosis. You’d say at this stage it’s highly likely to be season-ending. Balta, Broad, Lambert, Prestia, Nankervis. Edwards sore, Vlastuin sore etc etc etc. More on http://sen.com.au

Going back to the Fremantle game location stuff.

1) It should be Fremantle's choice about where the play the game out of the possible locations. That I agree with.

2) I have no idea why Fremantle wouldn't want to play the game at the MCG, and would be disappointed if WCE made a similar decision if we were to play either Carlton or Essendon in the same situation next week.

Carlton don't play all their home games at the MCG, they usually play 5 out of 11 at the G and the rest at Docklands. Even without that, if you wanted to add a flight to Launceston to "not let them roll out of bed and to the game" thats two additional flights you have to make as well.

Basically, I don't think there is any competitive advantage in the short term that overides the long term advantage of getting an extra game or two at the MCG, which is where I am sure Fremantle want/expect to be by 2022/23 given their list profile, playing big games at the MCG etc...

Even with us against North next week. I would much rather play that game at the MCG than just randomly decide to go to Adelaide or Queensland for it if we couldn't play in Perth.

Also in case people are wondering how many games North have played at the MCG this year

0 games, one game lined up vs Richmond at the end of the year

Cooked

I guess their clean sheet of injuries in 2017-18 (maybe 2019?) had to turn around at some point

They werent as good as the Hawks or Lions anyway. 3peat > 3 in 4 years.

They also have the "covid cup" moniker hanging over their heads.
If they aren't doing it already, people will look back and say "how did that team win three flags?". Never finished higher than 3rd (actually, I think they finished third each time). Good on them for making the most of what they had, but I am glad to see the back of them.

This has been an era where cheating the rules just enough to not get caught, gets you an edge. Bulldogs did it with their "quick hands"/throws, tigers with their: throws, holding the man on the mark, slowing play by pointing at the mark and telling umpries off. Also loved some late contact after the mark as well.

What a bunch of flogs.

Also a couple of soft wins, Brisbain did it the right way

Brisbane (01-04) > Hawthorn (12-15) > Richmond (17-20) > Geelong (07-11)

Brisbane (01-04) > Hawthorn (12-15) > Richmond (17-20) > Geelong (07-11)
Geelong >>> Richmond as well.

Richmond have played such a shit unwatchable brand of football. Just that hectic swarm ball.

Brisbane (01-04) > Hawthorn (12-15) > Richmond (17-20) > Geelong (07-11)

Nah Geelong were a much better side than Richmond overall.

Richmond are a triumph of buy in and system with some great players sprinkled in. Geelong had a huge number of blokes who could flat out play with some brain farts sprinkled in.

I guess I'm saying Geelong underperformed and won 3. Richmond over performed to win 3 , which is possibly more noble.

Feel like Bombers are a chance tonight if they back their run and carry

I quite like Bachar. He certainly gave it his all last night in a losing cause I thought.

Not surprised the ankle is bad, looked not good but was then running around on it seemingly OK??

Yeah I think I remember it at the time - winced and swore myself.

Rolled in AND had a guy step on it in the same play. Horrible.

My 'dynasty' rankings:

1. Brisbane - 4 GFs in a row, 3 peat all with ridiculous travel and fixture concessions against 3 Melbourne clubs, 2 against Collingwood on their home deck. Huge.
2. Hawthorn - A much weaker 3peat, all against non-Victorian clubs but four GFs in a row. 2008 gets them over the line for 2nd.
3. Geelong - Were unbelievably good as much as that hurts to admit. Some true Dank inspired bullying of clubs. Lack of back to back hurts them - but very dominant.

Dynasty - Lite:

4. Richmond/Dusty - Average home and away rankings, twice poor opposition in GFs, ridiculous fixture advantages they rode home in 2019 and the Covid cup in 2020. Still a great team performance, but they weren't getting anywhere close to 3 flags without Dusty. I just can't overrate that bloke. Clutch personified.

5. Sydney - The forgotten/almost side. 3 Grand Finals, 1 flag and dominant h/a form - got rorted in 2016.

6. Eagles - not quite good enough, but still impressive side of the 2010s. 6 years of finals in a row, 2 GFs and a flag. Bit of revisionist history around the 2015 GF where we were probably the best H/A team, beat Hawks at home first up in the finals and folded at the G.
