Cats didn't deserve to win 2009 and were incredibly luck to win 2011. Were the clear top team in 2007 and 2008 but managed to squeeze some more out of the squad to win 2009 and 2011.

No team dominates for a prolonged period. It's about getting to the top and making the most of your opportunities. We've had the squad to do it in the early 90s, arguably in the mid 2000s (forward line sucked though) and 2015-2021. Haven't managed to take all the opportunities, though winning a flag in each era is still a great achievement.

Top 4 definitely off the table now. We need 2 of Brisbane, Port and Geelong to lose multiple games while we win out. Doesn’t look like happening at all, the worst part being we’ve been in control of our fair share of games to at least have another 2-3 wins on the board. The Bulldogs last week and Geelong in Geelong can be passed off as sh*t games but the first Bulldogs game, Essendon and Saints are just unforgivable when the margins are so small.

The geelong game was the only game that i laughed at the result, albeit dissapointed how we just didnt bother putting in any effort.

The 2nd dogs game is realistically where we sit. I was bitterly dissapointed at the time, but that was on the back of the richmond game which turned out to be a false dawn.

The saints, GWS and essendon losses really sting.
