By the same logic, Richmond's VFL side beating us is nothing to get upset about either.

I'm just saying we're in a better position than most for a busy fixture and camped interstate.
Do I need to name the others that are stronger than us in the AFL, seriously ou

By what logic ,I was just stating that our Depth is no where near as good as Richmonds and several other clubs ,

Nathan Brown obviously told he wont be getting a game, has left the Saints hub to return to Melbourne to spend time with his family.

Obviously saw our backline and who is in front of him in rotations.

i think we did him a good solid giving him the extra year. he's served us well and i think we've looked after him too.

I’ll be in Brisbane for the hame against Sydney.
id like to take my daughter along.
does anyone know if it’s just members who can go or General public??!

We have 8 teams left to play: Brisbane, Essendon, Geelong, Gold Coast*, GWS, Hawthorn, Melbourne, West Coast.

Winning the two games that we did in SA has really set us up IMO. Now with GWS moving up to QLD we can rule out playing them interstate (most likely), and the only time we would have to actually travel could potentially be to play the Eagles.

So seven (and potentially all eight) of our remaining games we won't need to travel. I think this is huge, especially now the fixture is condensed.

Need 9 wins. Currently have 6.

Should Win
Gold Coast
Hawthorn
Melbourne

Could Win
Essendon
Geelong

Good litmus Test
Brisbane
WCE

If we wrap up the should wins we will make finals.

Get the could wins and we look at having a home final* or double chance.

Very very interesting run home coming up.

So our next 3 are:
Gold Coast
Geelong
Essendon

Which leaves us with
Hawthorn
Melbourne
West Coast
GWS
Brisbane

And i dare say we'll have a bye in there at some point also (how long a break thatll be is another question).
Hawthorn, West Coast, GWS and Melbourne all have games to catch up on once the current fixture release is done. Could be some very convenient fixturing coming up for us with these teams needing to make up games.

Looks like some of rnd 13/14 will be in NT as thats where they want to hold dreamtime. So we may travel there at some stage.

I expect all finals will be held in QLD. So any teams based in WA will be back from perth with a couple of rounds left to go. (Given we only need to play West Coast i doubt we will go to perth any time soon)*

*mind you having said all this everything is changing so quickly, all teams may be in perth by the end of the season. Who knows?

Looking at that list there is
4 games we would be favourite in.
2 games that would be 50/50 on current form
2 games we'd be big outsiders in.

If we can win 5 of them, then that would be huge.
Also need to make sure we dont take too big of a hit to our percentage.

Vs Gold Coast I'd rest Hanners, Ross, Ryder, Geary, Carlisle, Hill, Membrey. Bring them back for the Geelong game. Go with a more energetic squad for the GC game too.

If we lose to Gold Coast we are back in the pack and the Geelong becomes a must win game. GC are no easybeats this year. I would prefer to go full strength against GC and take a risk with the Cats game which is probably at best a 50/50 for us. Need to make sure we win 2 of next 3 and our safest options are to go full strength against GC and Bombers.

On a side note, how did you have the Eagles ending up on 9 wins? Hard to see them not coming top four with more games to come at home.

It generates from a computer model. It changes by the week. 2 weeks ago Richmond wasn’t in the 8and we finished 2nd behind Port. Eagles jumped after beating the Cats, came back with a smaller win.

Brown, Savage, Roberton, Abbott, Webster, Hind, Sinclair, Austin, Marsh, Parker, McKenzie, Long, Philips, Bytel.... Geez we're in a very good position to recover and still play near full strength throughout the 16 days!
I will assume that your only kidding
Sorry Munga , i did realize your post was and old one , My bad

Not exactly the thread for it; but where do you guys see the B&F at the moment? I'd have it something like:

1. Steele
2. Zones
3. Roma
4. Butler (edit: actually thinking about it and looking at his crazy tackle i50 stats you would probably slot him at 2 and have Zones 3 and Roma 4)
5. Gresh

Probably would have the top 10 rounded out by Billings (consistently good without any real standout games), then 7 - 10 a bit of a wash between Paton, Clark, Seb, Wilkie, Howard and Snake.

Anyway point being that if that's the top 5, the oldest is Zones at 25 1/2 years. That's pretty encouraging.

I'm expecting us to fly to Perth after this batch of games to hub with the NSW teams. We will play GWS and WCE in Perth before returning to play Hawthorn and Melbourne to finish the season.

I dont envy the AFL for having to co-ordinate all of this!!

Hopefully we get Brissy over there too, on neutral territory.

Hopefully after a bye first.

Would be great but they have already played both Perth teams + GWS.

AFL wont fly them all that way, with 2 weeks quarantine, for a single game against us. Will be at Metricon or maybe Cairns if we are the 'home' team.

Not sure how relevant it becomes in the fixturing, but according to the fixture to-date, we've played 6 "Away" games ... with Gold Coast and Geelong also ostensibly being as the "Away" team, which would make 8. We surely have to be the Away team against Brisbane which would be 9 "Away" games ... so are we going to be playing WCE as the Home team in Perth around our Bye?

Either way, you'd have to think we're going to have a bunch of "home" games at the Gabba late in the season ...

I dont think we all have to head to Perth.

From all reports, the WA teams will be heading to QLD in the next block of games because the WA governments quarantine requirements are becoming increasingly difficult to schedule around.
