I think terry said ray hall, ak and shane morrison would be in the mix to take chb while jay is gone. I could see ak and ray hall doing it but shane morrison . He shouldn't every play afl again and i would be a very nervous supporter seeing him line up on players like treadea or jonathan brown

i spoke to shane morrison on the family training sessio late last year and asked him his preferance possie, "id probably give hb a go this year" and i wished him luck. but i dunno if he could do much here but i think he's certainly worth a try

It should be Joel Bowden

Tigers weigh up key defensive options

Richmond coach Terry Wallace is keeping his options open with regards to a replacement at centre half-back for Jay Schulz, who will be out of action for the next 8-10 weeks with a broken ankle.

Wallace had earmarked the 19-year-old for the Tigers’ key defensive post this year, and liked what he saw of him in last Friday night’s Wizard Cup opener against Collingwood at Telstra Dome, before the serious injury occurred.

“Look, he was only just learning the role . . . the disappointing factor is that I thought he was really impacting on others down there when he was on the ground,” Wallace said.

“He was able to come three-deep on probably four or five occasions to help out players like Jackson and Gaspar in their particular roles. When he was off the ground, in the last quarter, all of a sudden the floodgates opened a little bit and we were more exposed.

“So, he was very, very handy back there and now we’ve just got to teach other players the same message that we’ve been teaching him over the pre-season.”

Players such as Andrew Kellaway, Ray Hall and Shane Morrison will all come into calculations to fill the void at centre half-back in Schulz’s absence.

“Obviously, we’ve just got to see who we think can hold down the position until Jay returns . . . We’ll give a few other blokes an opportunity there and see who grabs it.

“Andrew Kellaway’s played there a lot in the past, although I suppose it’s not necessarily where we are going for the future. I think Jay’s still where we’re going for the future at centre half-back, but in the short term Andy is certainly capable of holding down the spot.

“Both Ray Hall and Shane Morrison will also be given their opportunity to play there over a period of time and we’ll just see how they step up to the mark . . .”

Wallace believes Schulz needs to turn his extended period on the sidelines into a positive.

“Every player gets major injuries at some stage of his career. I think the thing with Jay is that he now looks to spend even more time trying to develop his body, so that he comes back nice and strong when he’s ready to play again,” Wallace said.

That above is true and i hope Morrison gets a go first, so he can get a spot in the side, kepp AK as our 3rd tall or a loose man and Hall should be given an opportunity at CHB with Morrison

Exactly what I was saying here yesterday. Who knows, he may put on enough muscle to be able to come back in a sleeveless jumper. :D

lol crumden hes not exactly small hehe

he has a big frame so he'll definitely get stronger

the thing i really like abt that article is the way wallace seems to have a very strong unwavering faith for the sarge at CHB, i kept hearing it over the summer thinking yeh yeh we'll try him out and abt 2-3 others, no biggie, but it really seems he has faith in the lad, i like seeing that :)

i though sarge looked ok on friday night before he did his ankle, think he should be given every chance to make chb his own. would like to see hall given first crack in his absence, and morrison given a shot too. dont know why some of you are bagging morrison, like tuck, was not given a fair opportunity to show his wares last year.

This is Morrison's final window of opportunity. He better grab it with both hands or he's GAWWWNNNN at the end of the year.

No point keeping him on the list if he doesnt come up this year.
