I like.

The scale of things looks pretty impressive. Its good that they have dramatically changed the setting (i.e. doesn't look like Racoon City).

Its strange because if you've seen the Far Cry 2 trailers the setting looks pretty similar (African third world country).

Looks really good, looking like being the best yet, hopefully it can come out sooner than later as it has had release dates of up to 2010 talked about.

hahaha i'm so freakon annoyed
i've been wanting to watch this trailer since i heard of its release but i went over my limit over a week ago playing WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much cod4 online and d/l too many HD trailers from gametrailers etc......
i still have to wait until the 5th to get the speed back!!
until then 64kbps :'(

Apparently the devs are 60% done with the game, so it might still be a fair way away, as once they are done there will be refining and then a wait until it is released, although very good that they want more than 20 hours game time.:thumbsu:

RESIDENT EVIL 5 DEVS 60% DONE, AIM FOR MORE THAN 20 HOURS
Like all thinking people, we're anxiously awaiting the release of Resident Evil 5, if only to learn more of the back story of coat-opening shop guy. Though we don't know when we'll finally get our hands on it, after last week's Captivate 08, we at least know that things are progressing.

"Right now, in the development process we're about 60 percent of the way through," producer Jun Takeuchi said through a translator. "We're figuring that the total play time in the game will be over 20 hours. As you can probably see from the trailer there's a lot of different content and materials in the game for you to enjoy." How's that 60 percent looking? Look for our impressions later in the day.

Resident Evil 5 gets Release Date

Capcom have released announced the release date for one of their most anticipated titles, Resident Evil 5. Resident Evil 5 will be making its way to the Shopping Centres world wide on Friday the 13th of March 2009. Capcom have confirmed that this will be the most scariest and intense game in the Resident Evil Series. The price for the Collectors Edition has also been announced. If you wish to purchase the Collectors Edition, you will be expected to pay $89.99. Resident Evil 5 is coming to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

With the price($89.99) i'm expecting that is US price.

Hmm....didn't play Res Evil 4?

Racoon City - European Village.

Think they've already done the different setting.

Res Evil 5 is top of the list for me for most anticipate

In terms of culture, Europe isn't too far removed from what was thrown up before. RE5 will be far removed from anything we've seen before.

Just a question....have you actually played Resident Evil 4?

I'm not being smart, it was a completely different experience to previous RE games (in terms of location, look, game play, enemies)

It was a HUGE change for earlier ones.

I get your point, but RE4 has already done that

(by the way, RE4 is played in rural farming villages in Europe and involves a religious cult of sorts....not modern Europe)

TL may mean a different setting as far as all video games goes?

Good point, well could have been. If that's the case, then we can add Far Cry 2 to that list, which is also set in Africa.

Still, I think Res Evil 4 was somewhat out of the norm for locations, god I love that game

I admit RE4 was different, but this is insanely different.

I'm not knocking RE4, IMO it was the best of the series.

Oh I didn't think you were knocking it, just thought you may not have played it.

Agreed, best so far in the series.

# 5 is shaping up very well, co-op is going to be insane

Besides the revamp in graphics and atmosphere in RE4, they also added the ability to upgrade and buy new equipment and weapons, which I thought was a good new direction for the game. Also, there were none of those set camera angles (ala RE on the Game Cube) and having it as somewhat of a 3rd person shooter with the camera over Leon's shoulder helped alot with the action side of things. LOved the scopes and laser sightings which helped with shooting too :thumbsu:

Hopefully much of this is carried over into RE5

RE4 was a great game, best of the series so far IMO (and I love the others as well).

I was just glad they made the move into more of an action game as you said, and I'm equally as glad they have carried this genre over with RE5.

The weapons and upgradables were fantastic in #4. Love the magnum and that mini dart cannon, whatever it was called.....nothing like firing one off, hearing the beeps and waiting for the enemy to liquify :thumbsu:

Anyone who hasn't played RE4, I suggest grabbing it....amazing game

Well hopefully it ain't boring or too easy like 4... Probably the easiest FPS/3PS I ever played, especially on higher difficulties...

Looks nice but can't say I am terribly interested...

2 still takes the cake IMO.

And as a result they forsook any level of greater difficulty the game ever had...

Really shits me when people call the game survival horror, considering it is the furthest thing from the truth given the ease of the game. Action horror at best. Still I guess, survival horror sounds a bit more interesting...

It does make it far easier, yet more interesting too. I found 4 better in terms of searching for items and playing through the whole game without getting bored... Yet I was equally engaged by RE 1 on the Gamecube and that had fixed cameras, no lasers or scopes, etc.

Anyone who hasn't played RE 1 (The Mansion one) on the Gamecube, I reccommend it hey. It's scary as hell, the graphics and gameplay are great and it is interesting from start to finish. Watch out for some of the creepy bad guys u come up against too :)

They removed a fair proportion of the key and lock stuff in RE4 though IIRC.. .At least in comparison to 1/2...

"Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you."

Great game :)

Yeah I rated 1 very highly, and a friend told me that RE 0 on the GC was also very good (but I havent played that as yet). Played through a fair bit of RE 3: Nemesis back in the day of the original Playstation and loved that also, but went back to lay it recently and was deterred by the graphics...

Surely Nintendo would have revamped 2 and 3 considering they did the first one?
