Anyone else been impressed also with his year so far? Looks like hes got back into that form that he had early last year before a run of injuries hurt his end to 07.

Seems to be mr consistency, really loving his dash to break the lines.

just wanted to make a thread as i dont think he gets the recognition he deserves, definitely would be around our top 5 for the copeland imo.

He's really taken the game on this year - fearless, fast and furious. I hope his peak co-incides with a lift from the rest of the team so we can make the best use of it!
 
Rhyce when fit has been a pretty good consistant preformer for a while now, his problem has been the stigma around him from his early days at the club and that every time his been playing some good footy he gets injured.

I think he is in career best form and looks like he will continue to improve - just more solid and confident than ever before in his runs and very rarely gets caught these days even in a pack. Also kicking has improved out of sight. Now is shaping up as one of the elite taggers and most damaging on the rebound.
 
I started a thread at the start of the year asking would Rhyce Shaw be in the team and most people said no forgetting how good his form was in the 1st 10 rounds last year but ts good to see he has proved most wrong preety much my fav player great speed plenty of heart
 
Rhyce is up there with medhurst and swan as our best players for the season.

Always plays hard, always breaks the lines and his kicking has been very good this season and that is something that has let him down, if only his goal kicking would improve he would kick a goal a week from centre breaks.

Really hope he keeps this form up all year, and all the knockers he had can finally ____ off

He was always a favourite of mine even though his kicking always let him down, he seems now to be rectifying this and it is turning him in to a quality player for us.

I still remember the first 8-10 rounds before he did his knee against Melbourne on Queens Birthday, he was really starting to emerge then, but was cut down by the knee.

A couple of things he has that you can't teach is Heart, Will and Determination. Those things alone will always take you far if you are willing to use them.

Well done Rhyce, you certainly are proving the footy world that you belong!! Keep it up!
 
to think we nearly traded him at the end of last year aswell, wed be worse off without him. some of our other players around his age arent playing too consistent atm
 
I have to admit that I was overly critical of him earlier in the year as I felt his kicking skills were letting us down. I used to be a big fan and am back on the bandwagon after eating humble pie. Has been consistently great this season so far.
 
I've never doubted Rhyce, knew he would come good.
Very important player for our team, still underrated.
Might be a smoky for the Copeland though still behind Didak and maybe Swan/Heath at this stage. Go you champ! :thumbsu:
 
Shaw is good but lacks class

solid player though he has got the most out of himself could work on his kicking on the run or for goal i think

Definitely. Swan/Rhyce/Didak/Pendlebury would be the top 4 at this stage I'd think, in some order. It's usually pretty close at the top, so I couldn't call it with any confidence.

don't quite know about that. the only player he seems to tag is judd and although he does a fairly decent job on him he doesn't seem to be used as tagger against anybody else. it would be awesome to finally have a shut down player though and i wouldn't mind him being turned into a full time tagger especially if he plays like he did in the first half on the weekend.

must admit i'm not the biggest fan of shaw but he's been doing well this year and it's good to see. his pace is something that we have lacked for years and he had smartened up a bit. i'm happy to say that there is room for improvement but he is definitely getting there
 
take note of the amount of times he plays on from marks and also handball receives.

he just takes off and runs for miles creating so much play off half back putting us foward on many occasions :)

great year by him thus far.

I can't wait until this time next year. With another 22 games under his belt I think he is going to be outstanding.

Those who say he lacks class....I will have a chat and get him to wear a cravat and smoking jacket when he has a snifter of brandy in future.

He is a footy player all I expect from him is hard work and plenty of endeavor.

He has it in spades.

Can you imagine of we had a whole team with these qualities to the same extent at Rhyce?:)

And I think in that sentence you have named 3 blokes who have the most, turned their careers around in the past 2 years. All three have gone from possible delistings (Medhurst at Freo obviously), to very very solid footballers. I would suggest Medders in particular is one of the great stories. He has to be in AA contention
 
Does anyone else think Shaw looks quicker than before? I remember when he first came into the team he had breakaway speed a bit like Thomas. Since his injury he hasn't looked anywhere near as quick. I thought he looked like a quick player whom no longer actually had the pace last year,a bit like Judd this year. In the last couple of games he looks like he can actually break away from players again on a run. I hope he keeps breaking the lines like he's been doing.

His kicking has been decent, hardly outstanding.
