Is he in the best 22?
Short answer: Yes
He is tough and hard at the ball. Isnt shy of having a run and taking them on and his skills are handy.

I actually think that palmer is already our most skilled player....... yes more skilled than des........gasp!...... the headland bandwagon will be onto me now. but watch rhys play and train. never misses a target by hand or by foot
Lets just hope Palmer doesn't crash his car into a tree while having a BAC of .20![]()
Slotted straight into the team, looked like he had played 100 games.I'm sick of all the crap over Palmer already,he has played one game FFS.
I ranked Ebert at 9, Selwood at 16, Palmer at 31.
Palmer is a ball magnet and dangerous around goals but, otherwise, kicking is mixed bag. Although left-footed, seems to be right-handed as he often awkwardly squeezes out a right-hand feed when left-hand should be used. (Occasionally uses left hand but it doesn't seem natural to him). Finds plenty of ball, including in-close, but way too often tries to do too much and won't get away with that at AFL. Top-age, not reliably clean, unaccountable, and pace isn't flash.
Terrific U18 & WAFL form in '07 and likely to look quite promising in his early days at AFL but I suspect his flaws will subsequently get exposed and exploited. Palmer pushes himself hard and often but, AFL-wise, I see him as more workhorse than class. I rate (eg)Cotchin, Myer, Masten, Veszpremi and Ebert much more highly.
Ebert is not outstanding in any specific skill or athletic attribute but is a great package and 100% footballer. And very bottom-age. The only players I ranked ahead of Ebert were
1 Cotchin
2 Kreuzer
3 Myers
4 Masten
5 Rioli
6 Veszpremi
7 Henderson
8 Maric.
Scott Selwood is a poor man's version of Joel. (I mean that as a compliment).
