Is he in the best 22?

Short answer: Yes

He is tough and hard at the ball. Isnt shy of having a run and taking them on and his skills are handy.

Thanks for that, post a question, answer it and give a reason.

Can't really argue you with so I will just agree.

I backed him in at some decent odds for the rising star award :thumbsu:

That probably explains why he is playing i guess.

No wonder they won the premiership last year. Their supporters are pure genius...

Could be our number 1 midfielder by the end of the season.

Cos he is my buddy this year ill ask this question. Could Palmer become fremantle first and youngest first year player to win the club B & F... Just throwing it out there :D hehe

I actually think that palmer is already our most skilled player....... yes more skilled than des........gasp!...... the headland bandwagon will be onto me now. but watch rhys play and train. never misses a target by hand or by foot

Why would any freo supporter give you a hard time about that?

Anyways - the headland bandwagon was more of a backlash against a long and nasty anti-des campaign.

Don't be sick of Palmer. One games yes... but every team and AFL supporter in the universe knows we need some midfield rejuvination.
Early days yes - but the boy provides some hope...
not too mention Chopper, Ibbo, Brockinator, Foster and perhaps Smith...

Will be interesting to see how Masten and Palmer develo over the next few years, Palmer has an AFL quality body already but Masten looks 1 or 2 pre seasons away from that level.

Was a big big fan of his predraft because of his run and that would be a MASSIVE asset to our team right now who look very slow.

Some Wisbey comments - his player descriptions are usually dead accurate (freakishly accurate) but I worry about his player rankings some times.
I ranked Ebert at 9, Selwood at 16, Palmer at 31.

Palmer is a ball magnet and dangerous around goals but, otherwise, kicking is mixed bag. Although left-footed, seems to be right-handed as he often awkwardly squeezes out a right-hand feed when left-hand should be used. (Occasionally uses left hand but it doesn't seem natural to him). Finds plenty of ball, including in-close, but way too often tries to do too much and won't get away with that at AFL. Top-age, not reliably clean, unaccountable, and pace isn't flash.

Terrific U18 & WAFL form in '07 and likely to look quite promising in his early days at AFL but I suspect his flaws will subsequently get exposed and exploited. Palmer pushes himself hard and often but, AFL-wise, I see him as more workhorse than class. I rate (eg)Cotchin, Myer, Masten, Veszpremi and Ebert much more highly.

Ebert is not outstanding in any specific skill or athletic attribute but is a great package and 100% footballer. And very bottom-age. The only players I ranked ahead of Ebert were

1 Cotchin
2 Kreuzer
3 Myers
4 Masten
5 Rioli
6 Veszpremi
7 Henderson
8 Maric.

Scott Selwood is a poor man's version of Joel. (I mean that as a compliment).

What a ____'n gun.:thumbsu:

There was a moment that in that second quarter where he took a half volley or something. He was under pressure. Most players would fire out a dodgy handball and probably turn the ball over. But no, Palmer just burned off whoever was chasing him and kicked the ball forward.

He's a gun.
