Could be leaving the Tigers. An untapped talent who given the right development/coaching/enviroment could still turn out to be the gun they all thought he would be. Given that we need speed in our midfield...any takers?

going to the crows for the bock compensation pick

Re: Tambling?

That's what I thought.

Re: Tambling?

I say yes if the price is right. Would do well in a team that has the ability to win its own ball more than the opposition. Maybe Djekurra or Gamble plus a 2nd round pick would be reasonable.

Re: Tambling?

Subject to trades etc who would he play ahead of?

When we are drafting, 2 key areas need to be met:

:footy: Can they impact our side immediately and if so who's spot can they take

or

:footy: Will they strengthen our list in the future and benefit us moreso than what we already have on the list

Re: Tambling?

He'd merely take the spot on the wing that Varcoe will end up excelling in.

I don't think he's crap, but it's not a trade we really need to do.

Yes, could he be our answer to apparent deficiency for small defensive quick? He is super quick and has played in defence at Richmond. Of all the mentioned names, Tambling could be a realistic catch if he doesn't go to Crow Park.

Re: Tambling?

Would rather Relton Roberts

Re: Tambling?

Tambling? Not the worst idea I ever heard.

Richmond are notorious for being totally incapable of developing their players, while we rock at that. Tambling has enough tools to work with that he might be worth a shot.

Re: Tambling?

I am undecided on Tambling. He has pace for sure and did show a bit over the last 2 seasons. But did he show enough ? Not sure. Pace is one thing we need but they need to be able to play footy as well.

If Wells reckons he is a worthwhile selection I will back him.

Just imagine we got Tambling and he turned out to be a very handy player. The more pace we have - the more gut runners we have - the better we will be off in the future. Just not sure though.

Re: Tambling?

I think he needs a new start, just think Richmond will expect too much for him.

If you could do it for a fringe player and second round pick I would be interested.

Re: Tambling?

My instant reaction was hell no, but seeing how every spud richmond lets go turns out to be better at a new club makes me reconsider.

Re: Tambling?

Would be a massive risk to trade for him as i could see Richmond wanting something decent for him. One positive is that he is young still has plenty of time to improve.

Tough call

Re: Tambling?

Only if they're offloading him for nothing i.e. some pick that we otherwise wouldn't use, or in the pre season draft. He could possibly be another Rodan case. Like RH said Richmond tend to be incapable of developing young players.

Re: Tambling?

I think Tambling would be a great player at Geelong. Really do, but honestly, I think you'll see Varcoe fill Abletts spot. That will make room for either Motlop or A Varcoe to take Travs forward role. Think you'll see the match committee wanting to get game into Bundy Christensen as well, so I doubt they will trade for him. All of them (Bundy, Molop and A Varcoe) are quick and use it well, so Looking forward to seeing one of them get given a swag of games (as trav was) and watch him blossom...
