I know it may seem banal and monotnous but it will help settle a long-standing debate with a mate of mine and i think the two players are so well-loved by their own and ridiculed by the rest that it is pretty interesting when you think about it. Literally who is the better player? and i mean right now.

Richo.

Bias? No not at all, Richo does more around the ground, plus kicks he's 2-3-4 goals a game. Lloyd sits in the goal square to kick he's 2-3-4 goals a game, half of which are from frees.

Different positions sorta i think.

Lloyd is worth his weight if you want a solid full forward who kicks bags of goals.

Richo is a Centre Half Forward at his peak, gets the ball, works around the ground and can kick some goals in a hurry.

Richo actually averaged more frees this year while Lloyd averaged more frees against ;) Also, Lloyd hardly sat in the goal square last season - most Essendon fans wish he had!

Vote obviously goes to Lloyd.

Richo is a great player. He can do alot around the ground and so on. He averaged 15 disposals a game last season. He took nine marks a game and kicked 2.4 goals a game. Richardson had 34 frees for while Lloyd had 27. Lloyd averaged 3 goals a game and 15 disposals. 7 marks a game. Both great players. Both Champions. Admire them both, however Lloyd is better

Both players are well past their peak, and progressing rapidly toward retirement. in terms of effectiveness in their careers, Lloyd is the winner by an absolute mile. Many dislike his diving tactics, but the fact is Lloyd has not only kicked goals consistently, he has kicked them when it counts, and delivered the Dons some success in the early part of this decade. Giving him the captaincy, was however a massive mistake because the guy doesn't have the basic mental capacity or leadership skills. They should just let him to what he does best - kicking goals and diving, and leave it at that. Richo is a difficult one. As an individual player, I like the way Richo goes about it. But on the flip-side he has been one of the main reason for the Tiges failure over the past decade. The reason is the guy is not a team player. Period. His dummy spits, and attitude might appear to be a bit of 'wearing his heart on his sleeve", but the reality is it's based on selfishness. His presence in the forward line, has robbed other potential KP forwards at Tigerland of opportunity Have you ever wondered why the Tiges have never ever been able to develop another KP forward when Richo was there? The "Kick it to me or I'll Dummy Spit, and then I'll shank the kick anyway " is the recurring Richo theme for the past 10 years. :)

Lloyd by a quite alot, however i don't respect lloyd at all unlike Richo who i respect quite a bit

RICHO RICHO MAN I WANNA BE A RICHO MAN
GO RICHO U LEGEND!!!!!!!
might not be able to kick staight but u gotta love the guy neva gives up

llyod is a good player to he can kick straight but richo does moe around the ground and not that people will think this is true but richo would be in the top 10-15% of the fastest players in the afl

Oh yeah for sure. 750 useless goals. And while he cracks the sads a bit, and it annoys me at times too, he is not a selfish player. If he is in a good position, he will have a shot. Sometimes he gets a bit excited and may try to do a bit much, but so often he sets up other players when he could so easily try to do it all himself.
As for the poll, Richo 750 odd goals, Lloyd i'm not really sure but about 850? So basically two great players, lloyd more goals i guess, richo has played up the field a bit though especially recently. Hard to call though, especially for a supporter of one of their teams.

To be honest both are completely different players.

Lloyd is a goalsquare FF where Richo is a run up the ground CHF.

Both have done extremely well in their respective classes but IMO are completely different players.

Richo for mine as he always leaves everything on the field, Lloyd is one of those typical kick it to me and I will fall over and get the free kick for it.

The difference is Lloyd can kick and wins games, while Richo can't kick and loses games. :)

Maybe you should admit that you are a Tiger fan in denial?

I would honestly love to see what you are like when a Richmond thread pops up.

Salivating at the mouth, yes or no?

richo's a great entertainer, not a great footballer

lloyd by a long way
I guess you could go out and kick 750+ goals at AFL level could you?

I didn't mean what you do..:

You see the reason why everyone is laughing at the Tiges, isn't because of the fact you've had 28 consecutive years of failure or that you are the 2007 spooners, the reason is the Tiges keep making the same mistakes year in year out which are which painfully obviously to everyone. Richo for example, has been missing game-costing sitters in front of goal for a decade now. Do you think it would have occurred to anyone at Tigerland to move him elsewhere and try someone else in the main KP forward post? No. And every year Miller produces 1 or 2 draft/trade clangers without fail. Do you think anyone at Tigerland would decide to give him the boot and try someone else? No. Same mistakes, year in year out, and same disastrous outcome. Its a self-perpetuating cycle of failure. :)
