Richmond = greedy bastards

Ok, time to set some of the DullBog supporters straight!

Gaspar accepted a contract to stay at Richmond for $530,000 next year. He was originally offered $600,000 by Freo. They then upped this offer to $640,000. He knocked back over $100,000 per year, over a five year deal. Yes, that's half a million bucks.....hmmmm that sounds greedy to me!!!

Holland agreed in principal to stay at Richmond for $375,000. He then accepted a deal with Adelaide for $400,000. This is over double his previous contract, and personally one good season out of five doesn't warrant this kind of increase in salary. We fell for that trap once with Daffy......never again!

Gale was offered the same money as last season, he wanted more to put his body through the rigours of another season. Not many 34 year olds get increases on their contracts.

Campbell was quoted in an article on realfooty.com.au today as stating that he has virtually agreed to terms with Richmond and everything will be "sweet". This doesn't sound like a player who was allegedly insulted with an offer of $150,000 per year. Yet another media beat up here!

Looks like we will also be taking Kane Johnson from Adelaide....if we can afford him, it doesn't look like we have too many salary cap problems does it??????????

In summary:

Gaspar took $100,000 less to stay at Richmond
Holland wanted to go to Adelaide regardless of the offer. Adelaide just made it something ridiculous.
Gale was offered the same money, and most likely the quote was taken out of context.
Campbell has all but agreed to new terms.



If you are going to start slagging off a club, can you at least make sure you have "some" fact right beforehand.

I said exactly the same thing but these supporters like to get stuck into us even though they no nothing about anything!

We are in a good position now, and i'll laugh my a$$ off when we here of some other clubs that will have problems (im not going to name names! )

Thanks for your concern everybody but as I said at the start of the week, Gaspar showed great loyalty and our problems aren't all that bad!

Even if he is only on $530,000 a year do you seriosly think he is worth that much or do you think its just the fact that good backman are very hard to find that has jacked the price up.

Darren Gasper is the epitomy of loyal. The only erason he left Sydney was for money. HE threatened to leave Richmond over money and because he took so much players like Gale and Holland have to leave.

what you all are missing here is the role of player managers they are the ones who put clubs to ransom with ridiculas demands and with a side like freo[no offence freo fans]who would do ANYTHING to get a player by uping the antie on any player in which this is like a red rag to a bull as far as player managers go more money for their player=more money for them.
while i feel there is a need for a manager to look after a players interest it has to be said that most managers dont give a S*** about the long term ramifications of such a wage explosion and sides like freo come to the party therefore the never ending spiral of players wages will continue to put pressure on clubs[expecially melb clubs.one day something will give and sadly it will cost us at least 2 melb based sides.
gasper isnt the 1st and wont be the last player to test the water so to speak.
ps.bulldog fans i noticed grant hasnt resigned yet?why is that more money perhaps?

Grant hasn't resigned but definently will. And unlike Gasper Grant has never put his club to ransom. He is also entitled to more money as he is far better. Finally, he will also get more money as is he is now on the veterans list and only half his salary is included in the salary cap

Mr 20 cents is worth every cent that we pay him, and showed everyone that there are more important things than money. He stayed with us for less than what Port were offering, so I don't know what you are implying. Money is not the issue, obviously, but what would a Tiger supporter know about that?

Holland is a Tiger still. He never had to leave in the first place.

Gale did leave and I'm not fully aware of the situation (i live in wa!).

I find it unbelievable that Holland can play for a man(Spud Frawley) who just yesterday questioned his honesty and integrity.

Your a typical ****en snob. We don't have money because we came in 1925 and don't have a large supporter base. Therefore at times we have been in financial trouble. In the early nineties Richmond nearly died and had to have a tin rattle because the club couldn't beat Burrom Buttock Thirds and the fans wouldn't go to games. Add to that the fact the club managed money like ****.

for starters if you read my thread its managers who hold the clubs to ransom you just have to see what happened with the ben holland affair as soon as his manager was out of the picture all things ahve been settled.
as far as grant being better than gasper well thats subjective.and ummmmmm a player has to be [A]at the one club for 10yrs
be over 30 to go onto the vets list.
