I have nothing against Rick Hart as he has done wonderous things for our club but he really sounds like a blubbering fool in that interview.
Do you think:

a) He's getting a bit senile
b) He didn't rehearse his lines well enough
c) He's just taking the words from Connolly's mouth
d) All of the above

a) no
b) whats to rehearse when you do not know specifically what you'll be asked. Rick Hart isn't an actor.
c)?
d)?

I don't think he sounded like a blubbering fool as you put, he just told it how it is. What he said is exactly where our team is and where CC stands. Not many club presidents come out at the halfway point - and pubically announce what the head coach has to do to stay next season.
I feel he is correct when he said that we have had a modicum of luck against us as well this season - but that's life.

Well of course he would know the type of questions that would be put to him, it's the same questions that are getting put towards the fremantle footy club by the media week in week out. And he definately would have thought about the type of questions that he would be asked during the course of the interview before hand, therefore the way in which he would reply is rehearsed in a way, which is the exact problem. He is giving a rehearsed answer to a question that wasn't asked in the exact way he thought and was trying to half wing it. Yes I agree with what he actually said but most of the comments he made about player behaviour and the future of CC had already been stated by CC himself which defends my other point of view that he is taking the words form CC's mouth.
But I don't think that FFC has had any "luck" against us at all. If anything it is the lack of passion, team unity, motivation and sheer determination which FFC is supposed to have an abundance of since it is our clubs motto, which I believe is the responsibilty of the head coach to instill into to his players that is definately lacking. So Rick is correct in stating the obvious that CC has to go.

Hart just said it what the situation is for the team and Connolly.

I think it's good that he's said it, makes it public knowledge that CC will not have a chance of being coach at freo next year if they dont make the finals.

The question is: Knowing that, do you want the Dockers to make the finals? :)

Or maybe the entire hierarachy of the club are unified in their stance on these issues? You can't win with some people. They criticise when they think different factions in the club are pulling in different directions but also complain when everyone seems to be reading off the same page.

esti, it seems there is nothing more Freo than to whinge about anything and everything that the club does or doesn't do. I'm waiting for the day when we win that first premiership, just to see how many reasons people can come up with for why we did it the wrong way.

I thought he was quite good, he was honest about the situation instead of saying the usual gutless line 'We'll evaluate the scenario at the end of the season."

I will VOMIT all over myself if Sumich coaches Fremantle.

Well excuse me, here I was thinking this was a discussion forum where people could come and freely voice their opinion and also hear what others think about the current topic. Which just so happens to be Rick Hart in this thread so if you would like to open a thread to whinge and try to dictate other peoples rights well go ahead, otherwise stick to the topic at hand.
The idea of my post was a light hearted way to get the discussion going and recieve some input from other forum members. It's funny how some people take things so seriously. Lighten up guy's.:)

I would never say no to the Dockers making the finals, even though I believe CC's time is up you have to give the guy some credit due to the fact he is the first coach to get us to play in a final, so my hat goes off to him and I hope he can steer us home strongly.

Connolly is a nice guy but something in that club means they consistently underperform did u see Toddy talk himself up in the West looks like he's gunning for the job. Suma is not going to be the next Freo coach look what he's done to our forward line!:)

Yes, we can see exactly what Suma has done to your forward line. I'm glad there's a weagle out ther who can see that Sumich is not worthy or capable of being the next Freo coach.

I realise that this story is by Hagdorn, so therefore a massive chance of being a pure work of fiction, but have I missed something this week? I'm sure I saw Connolly come out early in the week (Tuesday or Wednesday?) declaring that he didn't expect to be coach next season if we didn't make the finals. Rick Hart comes out on Thursday and says the same thing, and he's breaking an agreement between Connolly and the club to not discuss the situation. Surely if Connolly is going to break that agreement himself, he can't be whining too much when the club agree with what he says?

It's one thing for CC to make his own assumption regarding his future at the club with the way Freo are going. I'm sure he was just putting some pressure on himself and letting his players know the situation they are in. But it's alot different when the chairman comes out telling the whole football world that it's a certainty he will get the boot if they don't make the eight. Think about it, you call yourself an idiot, big deal, but when you hear that from someone elses mouth it it has a totally different meaning.

My problem is that according to the article, Connolly and the Club both agreed not to discuss the matter publicly. Connolly broke the agreement himself by talking about it to the media. Hart is then put in a situation where he has to deal with those comments. If Connolly had stuck with the line of it being assessed at the end of the season, I doubt that we would have seen Hart come out with his comments.

Has UGLY written all over this situation.

I think we will know exactly how the boys feel about it with their endeavour against Carlton and Sydney.

Those games will tell the tale.

We see Neitz and others come out in support Daniher, makes you wonder what the players think of CC

Well if that's true, I do see your point. But I don't believe the comments CC made were a direct implication of previous discussions he'd had with the board. And it seems Schwab isn't too happy with Rick breaking rank and giving his personal view on the future of CC either.

Just another example of Rick "the ego" Hart getting his mug on TV for a bit of media grand standing.

yes Rick, we all saw you, you were very good. Now **** off back to selling fridges and let guys like Schwabby take care of stuff like this.

I'm beginning to set my watch by you Belnakor -- although you're a little late on this one.

Do you have the fax he sent Channel 9 asking to be interviewed?

Atleast Hart has said that Connolly won't be coach if we miss the eight. Schwab will try to re-sign his boyfriend if we finish strongly and end up 9th. Hart is a puppet, Schwab's the problem.

We'll be sitting 8 and 10, then win 3 of our last 4 to finish 9th or 10th on 11-11. Then Connolly will be re-signed and we'll have another 2 years of shit, then we'll get a new coach when our window has closed.

Friends or not, I don't think Schwab will be able to justify re-signing CC if we miss the finals. He'd knows he'd have a riot on his hands, and say what you like about Schwabby but he's certainly not dumb.

Reading this board I'm getting confused whether Hart is a massive egomaniac running the club as his own personal plaything, or whether he's a mere puppet to Schwab's dictatorship. As is always the case in life, neither of the extremes are ever right.
