Probably belongs on 4th Estate, however I feel it is worth recognising his contribution to AFL and particularly commentary both on 7 and radio.

Drew was an excellent commentator who was able to call things directly and simply without the crap that commentators of today like Luke Darcy and Brian Taylor provide us with and was easy to listen to.

Think this is still one of his and the best examples of AFL commentary going around of all time in the North Melbourne vs Geelong preliminary 1994.

Oh that's terribly sad - absolutely loved listening to him call the footy, in fact sport in general

RIP Drew
Condolences to family and friends

Apparently found by wife in front of television and had been watching Hawthorn v Bulldogs. Quite young too at 69. Terrible news. All the best to family and friends.

Very sad news. A legend of Australian sports braodcasting especially on the radio. I remember his commentaries during many Olympic games as well.

RIP

The face and voice of footy when I was growing up in the early and mid eighties, watching him on The Winners every week.

A no fuss commentator who was always brimming with enthusiasm. RIP Drew.

Very sad news. One of the best commentators the game has had. Future hopefuls should be given Drew audio to study as part of their tenure.

Condolences to his family and friends.

One thing I did notice watching that, is that the goal umpire doing Geelong's end, I'm pretty sure he's still going now. Chunkier, but has the same moustache.
