107 games, 40 goals, 3 Grand Finals, 1 Premiership.

Rest in peace.

Only met him once (the Team Of The Century dinner) but he was a top bloke, a first-rate footballer, and one of the great characters of the game.

Condolences to the big man's family and friends.

A wonderful servant of our club,I was lucky enough to see most of those 107 games.
A giant of a player ,and a giant of a man
Condolences to family and friends
A very sad day for our club

Sadly Mick Nolan lost his battle with cancer about half an hour ago.

Rest in Peace Big Fella.

Fk me, this is shocking news. I've been out all night and having just watched a recording of PTI Australia, where Keka ended the show by sending his best wishes to his mate "Michael Nolan, who's battling at the moment.....all the best Mick and we'll see you on the weekend", I log in here and read this.

Very sad.

RIP champ! Best wishes and sympathies to the Nolan family and his large group of friends.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Mick Nolan is our first premiership hero to shuffle off this mortal coil.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.
:(

I reckon you're right pharro. I've searched the vast open cavernous space of my cranium for another, and I can't think of one (apologies if there is/are). One thing we can be sure of.......he's the biggest!

I vividly recall watching the Galloping Gasometer plying his trade at Arden St. The sheer size of the champ, as viewed through the eyes of a 5, 6, 7 year old, was gargantuan! He had more than just amazing talent and skill, as well as stamina which defied his girth and overall proportions.....he had presence! He also had a cult following, and the total respect of all of his peers, both friend and foe.

A sad loss indeed...

Thought the same Pharro. I think you are correct.

When you think of how important ruckmen were back then, even more than now I reckon, he had as much to do with our rise to power and treasured first Premiership as any of the more well known stars.

Saw most of his games from the stands, was one of my late Dad's favourite players, and i'm privileged to have had that pleasure.

A great heart in a great man. Very upset at this news.

God bless ya Mick, and thankyou for being the unique man, and footballer you were.

RIP.:(
