Rising Ibbo

Without being a cocky prick, or giving our team a massive jinx.

Against Melbourne next week should maybe... perhaps.... see either Mayne (if he plays) Ibbotson or Drum (is he eligible?) get nominated.

Drum is averaging 78.5 player ranking points in his last two games, Rhys is averaging 80.2!

Rioli will get the nod this week, The second gem out of the large Rioli clan, still a long way to go to catch the diamond, Maurice.

Really I'm not too worried how many nominations the club gets for this award, as long as each youngster takes a step forward in their career each week, the team benefits.

He's a beauty.

I am happy to say that I was dead wrong about him.

Eligible players:

Palmer
Ibbotson
Mayne
Drum
O'Brien
Hinkley
+ Smith, Connelly, Mourish, Pratt (rookies)

Warnock played 3 too many games last year to be eligible.

Rioli was good but think Ibbo was better
probably, but Rioli has had now 6 VERY good games. and is constantly in hawthorns best 10-12.
Rioli's nomination has been 3 weeks too late IMO. And plus the goal of the YEAR would have got him noticed.

But ibbotson(sp?) was great as well

Ibbo was great but agree here, Rioli has had 6 good/great games so it is all his for this round. Kruezer looks very good as does Masten so it has turned into a very very good draft.

I have to say it would be criminal if Rioli is not recognised with a nomination. The young man has done enough....
That said I have high hopes for Mayne, Ibbotson and hopefully the Brockinator to maybe pick one up this season as well....

Even if Garrick doesn't get the nod from the AFL for their nomination, you can make sure he gets the recognition he deserves in the BigFooty Emerging Star competition. The voting thread should be up in the next day or two in the BigFooty Medal section.

Thinking of adding this guy to my Dream Team. His last two weeks have been good, especially against Geelong.

Will Harvey keep him in the team all year, or will he just use him when necessary.

Why did he miss rounds 3 and 4, was he dropped or injured?

Thoughts, comments appreciated.

I imagine he'll stay in the side as long as he plays up to the standard he set last week. As with most young blokes his form will probably be up and down this year though.

He had an infected leg prior to the West Coast game, and was a late withdrawal. As he is young i don't think they wanted to rush him back for the round 4 game.

Right on!

What does he win?

He wins all of the honour and prestige associated with being voted the best young player in the AFL this week by BigFooty contributors.

So yeah, basically nothing ;)

It was just nice to see that we weren't the only ones who were basking in his awesomeness.

Ibbo must be getting close to getting one with his classy consistent displays. He probably needs a breakout game to attract the attention tho.

Similar to Rioli's very early few games... Very good, but was always outshined...

Ibbo will get one very soon... Liking him a BIT more than Palmer atm.. .not by much, but Ibbo has great potential...

Based on the limited game time I was able to view this weekend though, maybe Tippett (4.1)
