AFL Autopsy RND 14: Chewed Up and Spat Out By the Cats

This game was due. Look at our team, most of them 13 weeks ago you would have said who is that?

We had two fight backs and strong efforts in the previous few weeks, so we were due a big mental and physical drop off. Just need to get to bye and a few players to be more competitive.

I would have liked too see caddy played on Cameron for 15 minutes at the end.

I would have rather seen Vigo out there than Goldy personally. Each to your own.
You may want to watch the game.
You may also want to watch a few VFL games.
Vigo is good and I cant wait to see him the ones but, not instead of Goldy, with Goldy.
Trivial I know, each to your own.

Does anybody think this loss has anything to do with Scott?
No, of course not. No coach was getting us within about 10 goals of the Cats. But by the same token, what did Scott do right? There didn't seem to a change in game plan. We keep doing the same stupid stuff with poor decisions and disposal...

Not sure that’s a coaching issue though, he can’t go and kick the footy for them.
Agreed. But you can implement a game plan that limits the effects of them. Short kicks that have to be mm perfect seem to part of the game plan and we don't have the guys who can do it.
Again, not blaming Scott at all and i have no real issues with him as coach, but I don't think the margin would have been any bigger had someone else been in the box

2 "brave" efforts, this one was always on the cards. What freo do to us next week will be explicit.

I don’t think it’s intended to have to take short low percentage kicks, we had a lot of guys miss very basic, easy kicks, and Geelong did an excellent job of shutting down space.

I thought it’d be around 100 points, injuries have destroyed us this year and we aren’t that good to begin with.

The only reason for watching is to see how the young players go.

Does anybody think this loss has anything to do with Scott?
I think this year Scott gets a free run to play the kids etc. if we are still getting smashed in 12 months time I think the pressure may come. I’d personally like to persist with Scott, as long as I see improvements

Scoreline went as expected. 7 players with 5 or under games, unprecedented these days. Injuries and suspensions finally got to us. No selection pressure too.

Blakiston is a bust. Surely Perkins finally gets dropped.
Blakiston was not even rated as a top ruckman at WAFL level, Reid, Free, Eastland and Jones way better

107 points conceded from turnovers. No game plan can counter that. Even worse was it was 72 points from turnover in our defensive half. I know it is captain obvious stuff but if you keep giving it to good opposition then you will get burnt.

Anyone who thought we were going to go alright without Durham (and even Hobbs physicality) has got rocks in their head. Grunt is that last thing we could afford to lose going into this game.
It’s called a learning moment for the kids
