Robbo from May 2015: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...s/news-story/63d7b8df445c44d915be7056a03c0462
Emphasis is mine.
Oh dear ...
Getting him sacked is constructive.I find the social media witch hunt a bit much.
People bemoan ignorance and claim how little understanding there is of depression yet prefer to perform character assassinations rather than educate those that display that level of ignorance.
Should Robbo know better?
Arguable. He's a public figure in a highly lucrative position and should be more careful about what he says. He's also a football journalist and mental illness is not his area of expertise.
The point is if you want to help the perception and misunderstanding of the illness do something constructive.
What did he say? I don't watch it.Yeah he was even going on about it last night on 360!
Excercise is encouraged for mental health issues. Are people biased against shorter periods of depression? Who even says its over? Is he meant to avoid exercise or something? Is he supposed to stay inside by himself for some minimum period?
It's chemical imbalances of the brain.Depression doesn’t discriminate. It knows no boundaries. Young, old, rich, poor, fat, thin, beautiful, ugly, popular, nerd, loved, lonely- depression doesn’t see a difference and affects all kinds of people.
Poor comments from Robbo but the mock outrage on here is amazing.
They could fake an injury but then if he kept training and wasn't injured a lot of questions would be asked. Knowing the public scepticism and media in Melbourne it would just as likely fuel rumours that he's on a drug ban or fell out with Bucks or something like that.Is it not the fans whose demands to know what's wrong with players health/private lives that drives this kind of reporting and pressure on clubs to provide it?
I'm not cynical of Alex issue, just don't see why we need to know about it.
Stop being a bunch of whining nancy boys. If Fasolo is back training it suggests the treatment must be working.
Unless Fasolo training is part of the treatment plan ...If Fasolo is back training it suggests the treatment must be working. Already.
This is big footy. We aren't chief football writers of the biggest newspaper in victoria. He clearly has a responsibility he has failedFired? He's no more cynical that 99% of the posters here. I think he's a lousy football journalist. For that he should be fired. But if cynicism becomes a crime the BF will be shut down.
Training being part of the plan is a bit at odds with taking time away from the game.
Maybe he is on painkillers for his back and hasn't been getting much sleep and this has clouded his judgement? This is big footy. We aren't chief football writers of the biggest newspaper in victoria. He clearly has a responsibility he has failed
