We'll just have to agree to disagree on key stats because you've listed a number that border on irrelevant.
Naitanui has a load more bounces and pressure acts than Gawn. Perhaps those should be factored in.
Good point. Oleg Markov a lock. Averages more bounces than anyone else. ;)

Naitanui and the eagles to pull Gawn and Melbourne’s pants down this weekend as always to settle the debate once and for all.

May instead of Andrews, Walsh on the wing and McRae on the pine. Stringer is a lock, not sure you can have three talls, Fritsch is having a great year as the third fwd, as is Rohan.
Not sold on Dale as a lock defender yet.

Greene to be skipper

*Papley is the last picked and could easily be replaced by Stringer (yuck!) or AMT or Mills. Not a great year for the smalls. Last 3 games crucial for that spot.

Hi MR.CONVINCING :)

Quite odd that despite Naitanui being CONVINCINGLY better than Grundy that Grundy got in the coaches votes and Naitanui didn't.LOL.

I just proved you wrong. You clearly have no idea about football and I back my judgement along with the professional coaches than your biased @ss that can't think impartially. Boom! Thanks for the chats junior!

*Gawn now also beating Naitanui in the coaches votes. God it feels good to win an argument that stretched days. :)

I called Harvey's votes on this thread before they were posted online. We hear enough from retired "professional coaches" to know that their opinion has limited value.
I am unperturbed by the votes in this game nor the total votes for the season. The no. 1 ruck in the coaches votes shouldn't automatically be the starting AA ruckman. I know other Eagles supporters may have proposed this, but I don't share their opinion. Coaches opinions are overblown and can often obfuscate an individual players actual output.
Having Robert Harvey on your side doesn't win you any argument. It just makes you look petty.

Forgot about Fritsch, will update.

Dale is the best attacking kick in the AFL (actual versus expected) and can still defend.

May hasn’t been that good when you watch behind the goal footage. I had him in my team earlier this year but have swapped him out. I would have Keath in before May, although he is injured now.

Greene won’t be skipper in any team I pick. He is a dirty rotten scumbag. He Really shouldn’t be a registered AFL player.

lol.the arguments done mate. You lost. You only forecasted Grundy getting votes because you realised he might actually get some so you tried to save your a$$. I read straight through it. At the end of the day Mr. Convincing, Naitanui would've polled 8 or 9 votes and Grundy 0 if it was so convincing like you say. But like I said, Grundy got the votes and beat Naitanui convincingly :p

Ummm, yes having an AFL coach give a player votes is meaningful. much more than the Brownlow. This was a 6-0, 6-0 for me. Get on my level.

Dales got to be a lock now, he’s averaging 24 disposals (17 kicks) literally always takes the most attacking option and dangerous kicks into the centre yet still goes at 80% DE, rated as one of the best kicks under pressure by champion data, 530m per game, 5.7 intercept possessions, 4.6 score involvements, 9 goals off his own boot and 7 goal assists from half back. Defends reasonably well too. Lock.

Collingwood won easily, what did you expect? Gawn is only just ahead of nic nat in the coaches votes. I'm not sure what point your trying to get across is? Are you saying Grundy is a better ruck than nic Nat? If that's the case maybe look at their head to head battles, I'd imagine nic Nat would be in front

Not sure about a lock but pretty close too

The good thing about coaches votes is that they acknowledge players in losing teams frequently. Hence it's more accurate. I think you can definitely make a case that grundy is better than NicNat. My point was neither though, my point which I successfully proved already is that Naitanui was not CONVINCINGLY better than Grundy in that game. I held him accountable to his wording and proved him wrong in that.

Despite us being 17th and leaking goals regularly has any small forward kicked a bag on Blake Hardwick?

Or even half a bag?

I realise stats are the most important thing these days but if your job is to stop your opponent scoring goals and you do that often it is probably worth at least a look.

I have Daniel Rich and Jake Lloyd ahead of Dale at this point and there is also the non trivial possibility that Laird or Mills will get a guernsey in the backline despite not playing in it. Great season, not yet a lock.

Using your stats Lloyd is averaging 28 touches at 86%(!), 470m/game, 5.2 interceptions / 4.3 score involvements in a lower scoring team.

Rich is averaging 26 touches at 78.5% for a ludicrous 630m gained, 5.8 intercepts and 3.8 score involvements.

Rich loses 21% of his defensive 1:1s vs 31% for Lloyd and 41% for your man

How many goals have Rich and Lloyd kicked?

Cant see how Mills starts in the run on 18 in his first midfield season. Bench the most likely, especially after missing those 2 weeks with the covid lockdown. He's making it tough to keep out of the 22.
I’d be surprised if he made the 22. He’s been great, but the top end midfielders have been at such a high level this year. Missing two games doesn’t help either in such a tough year to get in.

When was the last time a team made the 8 and didnt have one player in the AA side? That's an honest question because I have no idea.

Freo could sneak into the 8 and I dont think anyone has us with anyone in there (though Darcy, Brayshaw and Mundy should be locks for the squad at least)

I don't expect the Swans to have anyone make the AA side

Mills - missed games + very tight competition among mids
Hickey - has been great for us, but wont make the team
Papley - started the year slowly
Dawson - as per Mills in mid, lots of competition on HBF

Kicking goals is a huge tick for an attacking half back, which is the role Dale/Rich/Lloyd all play.
I feel score involvements and score launches would be more relevant

When are score involvements more relevant than goals.

Player A has 15 score involvements that amount to 5 goals 10 scored by other players.

Player B has 12 score involvements that amount to 10 goals 2 including 6 goals personally scored.

Which player do you want on your team?
