I didnt realise they were the same age before today but that really enforces what a shit show our selections have been. How they could justify Labuschagne over Patterson is mind blowing. Siddle ahead of Richardson is also aggravating.

I can live with Siddle getting picked even though I think Richardson as back up is a no brainer as well but I'm glad Patterson is totally embarrassing the selectors here. This innings is absolutely top shelf. Came in when the side was in trouble, has looked confident from the get go and has shifted gears later in his innings, this is brilliant to watch.

And at a time when the likes of Head, MMarsh, SMarsh, Labummer, Finch and even Harris are gifted chance after chance without barely reaching a half century, it just makes Patterson's omission even more mind-boggling.

Can definitely see the appeal of Doran in the long term, can sweep better than anyone else in Australia judging by what I've seen today. Certainly shouldn't be in conversations at present and certainly needs to do this consistently but if he can keep as well, the appeal is obvious and he is still very young.
