Richardson’s only played a small amount of FC games but has been very good this year averaging around 20 or just below (off the top of my head) and took an 8fa

I, personally, would’ve rewarded Tremains 2-3 strong years of Shield cricket but In the same breath I’m happy Richardson’s been given a chance, heaps of potential and played well in shield cricket this year, and looks to be a long term international player

Edit: if you told me pre-series Hazlewood would miss id have gone with Cummins, Tremain and Richo. Still think Starc should miss out.

Got a far better shield batting average than 90% of our team this year, you’d think if Marsh can be picked he would be deserving. Kind of a dumb mindset to pick marsh as a bowling all rounder and play him at 6 when you’ve got a batsman who is currently averaging 40+.

Honestly don’t know why people peddle the ‘too old’ shit. If you’re performing you get picked, dumb mindsets re age just hinder selection. The national team isn’t a ****ing development squad.

Renshaw has made as many 100s last year as Patterson has in his career yet he couldn’t get a gig in the UAE or at home.

People argue against Labuschange selection in the UAE saying that his 2017/18 season of 795 runs at 39.75 including 2 100s and 4 50s wasn’t good enough yet Patterson’s 672 at 37.33 with no 100s and 5 50s is? He was back in the que as that’s where his performance warranted it

Renshaw has a lower career FC average, which means he also more low scores than Patterson. I have faith in Renshaw but Patterson has got past 50 five times to Renshaw's one.

You have to approach our bowlers a bit differently in the shield. Yes, guys like Tremain have good Shield records but how relevant is that? Our batting stocks are some of the worst we've had in a long time so it makes sense that we have bowlers picking up wickets at a good average. He's a good bowler but at 27 years old if he was really rated he would have gotten more International exposure then 4 ODIs.
