Honestly...

- First, the Crows (SANFL) never wanted to enter the growing AFL... but then they bitched and were forced to.

- Next, the Crows never wanted to move to Adelaide Oval (wanted to stay at AAMI)... but then they bitched were forced to.

- Now, the Rolling Stones are coming to kick the new Adelaide Oval off with a BANG... and now:

Hey, you, get off of my ground! Stones concert sparks Crow concerns

ADELAIDE CEO Steven Trigg is concerned about possible damage to the Adelaide Oval surface during next year's Rolling Stones concert, to be held a week before Port Adelaide hosts the Crows at the venue.
The legendary rock group announced on Wednesday that it will play its first show in Adelaide in nearly 20 years on March 22, a week before the redeveloped stadium hosts its first Showdown on March 29.

"But it will be a big challenge for the groundsmen to keep it up for the football demands around that time."

Steven Trigg... your a bloody embarrassment to SA... no wonder people view Adelaide as being non-progressive.

Regardless of any of the internal footy politics, I think he's got a fair point. A week before the game is just dumb.

People may recall the AC/DC concerts that were weeks before the start of the season at Docklands and the surface was still FUBAR for six-eight weeks into the season.

Plonking this so close to the season opener seems to scream of Cricket curators treating Aussie Rules as a second class citizen on the shared grounds even though it's the footy that will be dragging in the bulk of the $$$ to run the ground (and keep paying for re-surfacing in the (not-to-distant) future).

At least Docklands (stuff-up that it was) had a little bit of time to try to patch the ground back together......... didn't work though.

I get why we aren't happy. As JD-Roo said, it does FUBAR the oval and of course a FUBAR oval isn't a good look, especially for a new stadium.

They were better just using AAMI for it really but whatever.

Twenty/thirty years ago i would have agreed with the op but let's be honest who in their right mind would want to pay top dollar to see a band of aging 70 year old rock stars from the sixties prancing around in wheel chairs trying to sing/play songs like Satisfaction & Angie.

4 out of 10 for this one kaysee.

Yeah ... I'm not sure how you can classify being pissed off about Adelaide spending hundreds of thousands of taxpayer money and screwing with the new and improved footy stadium a week before the first game there so a bunch of 70 year olds can relive their glory days as 'non-progressive'.

Oh well, at least it's not ****ing ACDC.

Why there hasn't been a massive ground swell from the Crows members to get rid of this fool is beyond me.

He is seriously damaging his own club, football is SA and finances of the SMA.

He is only there to fire up the simpletons that support the Crows.

I ain't even gonna get on Triggy about this because the stones suck more than the crows :thumbsu:

They put a thick rubber floor type thing over the standing area's, the ground damage from 1 show will be minimal. Bit of a water and it'll be fine. This is just a faux attempt at seeming to be on the front foot by the Crows to hide the fact they have no control over anything else. They also know that they'll be backed by the average Adelaidian dullard who loves to make a whinging mountain out of a mole hill.

Looks like your fellow Port supporters have abandoned you. You know you can't have your own opinion as a Port supporter. Ford Fairmont will have your head for this.

Aside for arsehats like you, who recalls the specific AC/DC surface issues at Docklands? Granted the Docklands has surface issues at the best of times... but no-one recalls "Ohhh AC/DC farked up the surface before this/that game" except for a handful Norf fans. On the other hand if the AC/DC show was cancelled due to AFL fans protesting over the damage to the surface: embarrassing "AC/DC Cancelled Due to AFL Concerns" headlines would reach around the world.

As for any West Horsham comments on, not wanting to see ageing artists on stage:

- who cares if their to your taste or not and who cares how old they are.

- they are one of the remaining "Billboard Top 10" artists of all-time who still draw HUGE crowds and respect across the world wherever they perform!!!

- I present you with 2 scenarios:

A) Stones perform before the 1st game, muck up the surface, game is held anyway (at a great time of year and not wet boggy winter), a handful of pessimists are annoyed about the surface and the headlines that are potentially global are:

"Rolling Stones Rock Adelaide Oval"

B) Pessimesitc Trigg-based ground swell builds, due to concerns about the surface the concert is cancelled, the few pessimists are relieved, whilst 10s of thousands music lovers are disappointed and the GLOBAL headlines are:

"ADELAIDE: Rolling Stones Rejected Due Ground Concerns"

Which paints a better picture of perception for Adelaide?

But all the above seems moot now anyway... Trigg and the Crows are now fully board. As outlined in my OP... The CROWS ALWAYS BEND AND FOLLOW

For all those youngsters out there wondering if jealously is an emotion that remains with us as we age... here is your proof: old guys getting jealous of old guys rocking, scoring chicks at will and living the dream.;)
