Tuesday December 7, 10.15am - NAB AFL Rookie Draft meeting (Microsoft Live meeting). Team GWS have selections 1-8 and Gold Coast FC has selection nine and the first selection in each subsequent round.
Key dates

How can they give the GC the first pick in each round after GWS has the first eight picks? :thumbsd:

Our picks will be 17, 33, 49, 65, etc.

17 might be a purely needs based selection.

Our needs might be
  • inside midfielder
  • ruckman

WH said that we have 3 picks in the rookie draft so I would look at a couple of mature age picks and a project ruckman.

I voted for the invisible "best talent available" option. Another player with the class of Garlett would be nice. We have all "needs" covered. It's about trying to find a potential superstar who slipped through the system. History tells us they're always there, it's just a matter of finding them.

:)

- An inside midfielder, or just an older hard bodied one.
- Medium forward, maybe someone like Charlie Riewoldt.
- A project ruckman.

I'm pretty sure BiB said we'd be looking at a project ruckman and the rookie draft is all that's left now. It would be a smart move.

Any chance of Donaldson getting another look in?

I am on the project ruckman bandwagon as well!! Lets get a 200cm kid that needs time and let him flourish in the 2nds and see how he comes on in a couple of years. You just never know how these kids will mature and bulk up once they get a couple of Pre-Seasons into them and the improvement can be rapid once they hit 20-21 years of age.

Definitely need a ruckman. Going into 2011 with three, one of them returning from a serious knee injury, would be asking for trouble. One pick will be used to rookie O'Keeffe too, I'd guess.

Brad Harvey could be a good option for us with our first pick. There is also a ruckman from SA that could really develop well but I forget his name...

I think a ruckman would be the way to go, also i was at visy watching the guys train yesterday, ROK was just running laps all session didnt get into any of the drills. Levi Casbolt is looking strong he was walking laps while dragging a 40kg weight behind him.

You pick the weapon.

Seriously. Due diligence requires us to investigate the circumstances surrounding his fall from grace. Quality does not grow on trees. It is all about making informed decisions.

I think thats Giles that you might be thinking of but he really wouldnt suit your needs being 23 yo & ready to go.

andrew phillips 200cm 93kgs 18 yo
mitch curnow, 201cm, 84kg
