Am I correct in assuming that we are still eligible this year to have a nominated rookie be able to play on our senior list (like Jamison did this year), because we have no veterans on our list!

If this is still the case this makes our rookie list exceptionally important this year!

Let us ponder who we think will fall through to the rookie list!

I think if the coaching staff are idiots and keep Saddington on the list he will be a veteran so now there's another reason to add to the list of why we should get rid of him

Yea Todd Grimas got something about him seen him quite a few times play has strong hands, big leap, good kick, is quick and has a bit of x factor. If Charlie Sharples falls to the rookie draft i wudnt mind him reminds me a lot of josh hill for wbdogs

I didn't realise Saddington has been at the Blues for 10 years already

We can have two veterans, or two nominated rookies, or one of each.

We only used the one spot this year with Jammo.

Potentially we can have two of Ellard, Joseph and Hill as nominated rookies for their second year, and the other can stay as a regular rookie.

Jacobs is in his second year and unless the rules have changed (some rumours about 3rd year rookies?) then he needs to be delisted, or elevated.

Shield already gone.

That frees up two rookie spots and 1 for Zac Touhey (sp?), the new Irish recruit......assuming we sign him after his try-out.:thumbsu:

Aaron Joseph had a pretty good year and would be a shot for one of those spots. Fell away a bit at the end though, which is probably due to his lack of size at this point.

You'd think Ellard, after cracking a senior game might get on as well.

Don't really know how Hill went.

Are international rookie spots in addition to the normal rookie spots or is it just that international rookies can stay on the rookie list for 3 years?

Not really sure. My "legalese" isn't up to scratch.

Page 97 has the table and description for list size.

http://aflpa.com.au/sites/all/files/AFLPA_AFL_CBA_2007_2011_FINAL.pdf

It seems to me we can have:

Minimum 38 on the senior list, 4 on the rookie list.

Maximum 38 senior list, Up to 6 rookies, 2 of which can be nominated rookies. I think the International rookies come under the 6.

There is then a provision for up to 6 more "Scholarship list" or "international scholarship" players.

I think these three are the underage NSW school boys wer have on our list, and possibly the "rumoured" irish scholarship guys that were talked about and not an international rookie.

So our list (and my prefs for 2009 in bold):
First year rookies (2 able to be nominated rookies next year)
  1. Aaron Joseph (Nominated)
  2. David Ellard (Nominated)
  3. Lachie Hill (Second year rookie)
Second year Rookies (must be elevated or delisted)
  1. Michael Jamison (Elevate to senior list)
  2. Sam Jacobs (Elevate to senior list)
International Rookie
  1. Michale Shields (Replaced by Zach Touhy....sp?)
NSW/International Scholarship
  1. Luke Feneroli
  2. Jake Pianta
  3. Blake Bray
  4. Matthew Lodge
  5. Irish 1?
  6. Irish 2?
This frees up to spaces for rookies with Jammo and Jacobs being elevated or delisted.:thumbsu:
