Considering Bews and Simpsons LTI's who would the club elevate?

Im guessing Eardley and Walker, but would not be suprised to see Bathie come in to atleast compete as a ruckman...

I suppose it depends on what other young guys they see as playing seniors, which may dictate what backup they need. Interesting times.

Doubt anyway whether anything will happen til at least April, when we and the club (or the club at least) are better informed about lots of things.

Surely the club knows that Bews is out for a fair time and will need time in the VFL before he will be considered for senior duties. Does this allow then Walker to be upgraded now ? or if he comes back say round 8 for a VFL game - this would mean a Rookie canot be upgraded ? Not quite sure of the rules re LTI are concerned.

Walker seems to be the obvious one to be first upgraded rookie.

Last year I would have said yes I'm a fan,but with Vardy back and the inclusion of Hmac to go with West I'm not so confident.
Lets see who puts their hand up in the NAB.

this is from an article on Max Gawn who was put onto the Demons LTI list a bit over a week ago:
The 208cm ruckman will be forced to stay on the LTI list for a minimum of eight weeks, finishing on March 22, just a week before the Demons' round one clash with Port Adelaide on March 31.
If we added Bews, Simpson, Burbury or say even Menz to the LTI list right now, the minimum 8 weeks from today would be April 1st, just before our round 1 match. You don't have to activate a rookie just because you add a player to the LTI list, I guess it really just comes down to the club and their thoughts on whether any of our injured guys are totally gone for a minimum of 8 weeks before they would be playing any footy.

Burbury is out - so that only leaves Eardley as a Rookie to upgrade.

I just reckon Walker will probably make it and they would like to reward the guy by saying at the end of the year, if you play well in the VFL and AFL (if you get a game or two) - you are going to be senior listed in 2014.

There's no need to make anyone LTI yet, and every reason to wait at least until the season starts, and maybe longer, to see what else happens in the way of injuries (and who we need to replace) and player development.

Once he returns to the VFL the Rookie replacement has to go back to the Rookie list.

Well then it's Walker first and Cam Eardley so he gets a taste of it for the future, I reckon he's a keeper,........... but the big boy Walker has really put on size and power over summer, he's a bull at the ball with mongrel, so he selects himself in my opinion.

Eardley has put on size and is a tough kid, I don't any worries there either!

Shit some people have an obsession with elevating rookies.

There is absolutely no need to elevate anyone for at least another 6 weeks, if at all.
We can play everyone preseason , lets talk if someone demands selection.

Exactly, for the umpteenth time, there is not only no need to do it now, it would simply be stupid.

Just watched us beat the Crows on Foxtell, Walker was involved big time, he's now about Hawkins size from last year, another right in the mix was Sherringham, got some talent.

Bathie is not a ruckman nor will he ever be one. He is KPD. Hell even Blicavs would be a better ruckman.

Well what would you do if god forbid vardy, west or hmac all went down?
I'd rather see Bathie ruck than Hawkins.

All the rookies can play NAB anyway so no one needs upgrading for ages yet.

We may not upgrade a rookie at all but if we do, Walker is the obvious frontrunner.

Of course he's the obvious, especially now with Simpson and concerns with HMac.

What we should be trying to achieve is continuity in our forward setup with Hawkins and Vardy and not stuff with future, it's vital the big match winners are given priority.
These two could win us another flag going forward over the next few years.
A couple of seasons ago Hawkins season was ruined, and Vardy's career was near ended legacy of the ruck, I say forwardline boundary throw-ins yes, the rest, no!

Walker is now a powerhouse!!.......Saw him on Foxtell vs the Crows, rucking running and crashing, his further maturity and his excellent pre-season, will most likely see him emerge as a genuine weapon of a player this season.
Further more the kids a gifted athlete, genuinely tough and very hard at the contest but his agility for his size is why I see him as a perfect substitute for ruck problems. he'll dive full length into packs like Otto did, and tough if you're in the way!
I'd say if anyone has put substantial muscle weight on and just pure extra body size it'd be Walker, this year he'll be a monster.
Just hope they don't play games to long, and rightly give him his deserves.
Other clubs may come a looking.

Walker is 6 cms shorter than Ottens and 2cms shorter than West, who most consider a good 2nd ruckman. Unless he has a great vertical jump ( which I can see as a huge advantage with the new no contact ruck rule), he won't be the answer to our ruck problems. Can't believe Simpson went down again, at the start of the season, again.
