I think Cloke would be dominating just as much in the Hawks line up.

The two players are basically on level terms. You'll wind up getting the hawk fans and pie haters going for Roughead, and the Pie and fans and hawk haters going for Cloke.

When you've got Lance Franklin to direct all of your traffic through, you'd probably want Jarryd Roughead to serve as a spearhead and capitalise on the goalscoring opportunities.

Likewise if you had Jonathan Brown.

Anyone else, and I think the team would be better served with Travis Cloke. He gets around the ground more, will take contested marks, even outside the 50 and then pump the ball into the full forward/crumbers. They obviously play completely different roles, with sharp edges in terms of marks and inside 50s going Clokes way, and a large edge in goals going Roughead's way.

Three different questions, you should just ask one for the poll. Roughead is more of a FF, Cloke more of a CHF... but I think Cloke may move to FF after Rocca, unless Dawes comes along. Right now, I'd say Roughead is a bit better. For the future, I really think Cloke will be one of the best forwards in the game, but so will Roughead, so flip a coin. If Cloke was getting constantly fed the ball from Mitchell, Hodge, Sewell etc., he'd look a lot better (given Hawthorn always dominate the clearances too). Whereas our midfield gets smashed, and delivers very poorly for the most part (Pendlebury, Davis, Didak excluded).

So in short: Roughead now, 50/50 for the future. But I'm extremely happy with Trav, and I'm sure when we get some gun midfielders, he will be a lot better than he appears now.

Ah yes, thanks for clearing that up. I now realise that Milne and Ebert are better than Riewoldt. Dale Thomas is also better than Gary Ablett Jr. I'm glad you've cleared that up.

2007 Cloke > Roughead
2008 Roughead > Cloke
2009 onwards, flip a coin, either way your going to get a high quality young forward.

i hate these arguments against roughead and also buddy that they're only good cos they have a good midfield, especially when they've stood up in games where our midfield was terrible.
