We got massacred in the middle. Danger/Thommo/Sloane all performed well below there best.

They were smashed by Watson/Stanton/Heppell.

Really liked Luke Brown tonight. Thought he slotted in for Doughty nicely. Hope he just rolled the ankle and can make it back for Brisbane.

I hope people like Bernie Vince are actually on notice. He looked like a slower Brad Symes tonight. The one mark I have against Sando so far is that he's so reluctant to drop anyone he sees as best 22 even when they're out of form and there are guys knocking down the door. If we continue on this form the team is going to feel stale really fast.

On the brighter side Petrenko got to his regular 5 touches. I imagine his legion of fans will point out his never say die attitude and how he brings intensity to our game.

Is the performance tonight an indication of how important Bailey is in the coaches box? I had a feeling the penalty we would be paying for Melbourne's tanking would be significant.

I made that comment earlier. Sando didn't try anything out of the ordinary to stem the tide. I know the players played like shit, but he needed to do SOMETHING. I hated that Tex was so far up the ground, we had no-one to kick to when we won a turnover and had to hold up the ball, giving them time to get back. I think we'll miss Bailey's strategies a lot, perhaps we should have him on a phone in?

Im a fan of Sando however the key reason that he didn't get the job at Geelong was concerns on whether he could make the tough calls on the playing group and IMO he needs to start making some tough calls at the selection table

Our tackling has been woeful for years however he still persists with players who couldn't tackle my G-Ma whist leaving pig-dog our best tackler out of the side

danger got physically ganged up on tonight and we go in with Matty J, Martin and Vince, give me Crouch, Pig-Dog and Tambling every day

I just fear like Craigy that Sando has his first pick 18 or 19 players and he will keep the faith in this group and inky change the team through injury or rotating his players 19 to 22

Big concern is coming up to the Gabba in two weeks. Lions have the fast running game (not dissimilar to Essendon) and that is part of what killed us tonight. We play like that against them up here and it's a 0-2 start to the season.

We made too many mistakes. Eliminate them at thats about 3 to 4 less goals.

We looked rusty. Did we get a lead early then get complacent?

We need to not stuff around experimenting with players for a couple games and set a side for a few weeks and if players are struggling get them out for the next player to have a crack.

Reality is, we probably aren't going to be a top 2 or top 4 side. Barring a miracle we won't win a premiership in this cycle given our draft pick situation. Kommer is no star but he represents the benefit of being able to 'inject' fresh talent.

Doesn't mean we can't hope for that miracle and appreciate the players in the meantime. I'm sure we'll bounce back the next few rounds, we are better than we displayed tonight.
