watched the match tonight and was thinking about the pros and cons of the 2 teams preparation coming into round 1. the dogs get to play a 3rd game at the dome, we only got to play 1, we've both played in a slog, we have rotated/rested more players, and we also get to play a full team next week which i doubt they will do, but they get to play in front of 'real' crowds. who's had a better prep, if anyone?

we made the final last year and then lost as heavy favourites at home against the crows ( who lost rd 1 in nab cup)

thoughts???

Our preparations been really good. I was quite happy we went out in round 1 so we could really manage our best squad into round 1 without any distractions like Barry Hall finding his feet with his new club on Television, and talk of a first Grand Final of any time in 40 years.

There will no doubt be some build up for doggies next week and they'll go out pretty hard to win regardless of what is said.

We should play our best side in next week's practice game and get all our structures right preparing for round 1, while the doggies can bust a gut and focus on the NAB cup

Doggies will be ripe for the picking Round 1, am confident.

Hall will make them much more predictable moving the ball forward, as we know Presti has no troubles with him.

Just have to beat them in the middle (which we have struggled to do) but hopefully this is where Jolly and Ball prove their worth.

yeah, was thinking along the same lines as the 2 posts above, there will be a massive focus on rd 1 with johnno's 350th as well but i really like the fact that we have had an opportunity to experiment with the squad and play our best team next week before the week off and the real stuff.

Dogs have played better teams in better conditions. I think they'll be rip roaring to go come round 1, it's a tough opener but I think we can match up with them.

The key is getting our forward structure right. I've got no problem with what I've seen/heard of our midfield and defense, but I'm seeing our forward line having the same troubles it did last year, which is worrying. Here's hoping Bucks can get things right.

Doggies have a hard time actually delivering in big milestone games historically, but I'm sure they have had a much better hit out than us simply because of opposition and conditions.

We'll need to switched on.

God knows how we are going to pick a side from our NAB Cup and Challenge games.

Finally I think we can say we have true depth.

Don't get this bit at all. We beat the Crows, Jack, Remember?

So now it's down to Freo, if they win, the Doggies play them at Subi, if they lose, we play them in WA.

Go FREO.

is that confirmed? talk up here is they will play sydney in the riverina area (can't remember the ground)

anyway on topic, pie eyed makes a good point on picking a team based on the pre season games, i think there'll be a couple of suprises with MM's 'horses for courses' policy, pace & pressure type players would be the go playing the dogs

I agree with this time and again the dogs did what Wade said they wouldn't and that's always go for hall.

With presti covering hall and at theeast break even in the middle I think we can win, now they have a kp they no longer have a foreign structure

round one is going to be a genuine cracking match

both sides match up well, both have a similar man-on-man styles of play... we probably tend to move it a little slower at times...

there is a week off after the nab cup final yeah? so the dogs shouldnt be too flat...

if they get pumped by the saints in the final, they'll be out for blood and may be a more formidable task...

PE, he is talking about round 1...

And we were heavy favourites, but that has more to do with the fact that the entire football world underrated the crows. That same match 6 months later wouldn't have warranted such heavy favourtism.
