Round 1 it is usually just worth flipping a coin for each game and hoping Zeus or Bahl has got your back.

Tiges, Suns and Eagles and to a lesser extent Port should all win easily but history suggests at least one will screw it up. I'm picking two minor upsets (Pies and Dogs) and one proper one (Saints) and that sounds about right for round 1.

Freo vs Dogs is gonna be a ripper game I reckon. Can the Doggies run'n'gun brigade crack the dour defenses of Fremantle's Purple Lockdown?

On the flip-side I think West Coast vs Brisbane is going to be renamed "NAB 4" by comparison (Eagles nearly fully fit, Lions with some big outs).

Tigers v Blues 33 points, not the most convincing win but we'll get the job done.
Dees v Giants 10 points, this game is a real toss of the coin from two improvers.
Suns v Bombers 20 points, will be much closer than many predict, Essendon will show fight in this one
Roos v Crows 40 points, Roos will do it easily against the Crows and make a statement here.
Swans v Pies 21 points, tipping Collingwood to really improve this year, but Swans open their home games with a win
Dogs v Freo 2 points, Great match, goes right to the wire, Dogs have a couple of matchwinners in the end
Port v Saints 22 points, I see this as a danger game for the Power, but they should be good enough at home
Eagles v Lions 77 points, Lions won't trouble the Eagles at all
Hawks v Cats 14 points, tipping this to be the match of the round, the Cats cause the upset

Probably...Richmond has been a little rusty and will probably make some sloppy mistakes, bringing it closer.

Sheils is a bigger out than most people realise too. Flies under the radar a bit, but actually massively important to our side. Duckwood definitely playing, Another shortened pre-season for us, Danger in, Cats a HUGE chance.
