Very true, but if you're careful, it's also the best time of year to make good return off well placed multis.

That it is. When I look back at a few years the thing is that the number of upsets aren't completely outrageous but you just get unpredictable performances from teams that you have no way of seeing coming.

Like North losing to Adelaide in Adelaide last year is hardly some massive upset until you remember what an absolute flogging they gave them. Then your team only loses to Sydney after running out of legs from no proper pre-season and then beats the Hawks the following week before things start making sense again.

Thus it is completely logical to back multiple dogs because bookies and punters have less of a chance to establish lines with any real basis.

Yes you are missing something. Perhaps it's that those picking us aren't stupid enough to be sucked in by the eternal Victorian media one liner, saying the same crap over again...Danger's left so crows are stuffed. The reality is, it's a team sport. The crows list is now in the age/games profile that usually seriously pushes for a flag, and we have talent on every line, with a number of AA's including 2 down back, one of the league's best ruckmen, and a formidable forward line. One player doesnt make a team. We still have a number of bloody good inside mids, and most if not all of them with better disposal efficiency than Dangerfield. North don't generally trouble us, especially early in the season, it certainly won't be the cakewalk for them that you seem to think.
Will have to wait and see. Tipping North account for you relatively easily

96 points? Crows are shot? Seems like you haven't read up on us or watched our previous season.

Tigers v Blues, too strong against a for once gallant Blues side, Weitering to show early promise.
Dees v Giants, with no Cameron the other Giants forwards will have their work cut out for them, Hogan to work on his yips the next 2 weeks and kick a bag
Suns v Bombers, Gazza to show the Baby bomber rookies what exactly being the best is all about, 45 touches in a 25 (goal?) point victory
Roos v Crows, North have not won in Round 1 in 6 seasons, let's make it 7 with a 17 point loss to the Danger-less Crows
Swans v Pies, Swans to unveil a few new tricks whilst the Pies take a little longer to gel, 16 point Swans victory at the SCG
Dogs v Freo, Dogs to be gallant but lose by 9 to a Dockers team on a mission, with a little taste of vintage Pav one more time
Port v Saints, Saints by 1 point, come on a man can dream can't he :p
Eagles v Lions, Eagles by 72, No Beams, no Mathieson, not sure who else is out, but also no chance.
Hawks v Cats, Hawks to begin the quest for the four peat in style with a 31 point win.

Richmond v Carlton, 60 points
Melbourne v GWS, 21 points
Gold Coast v Essendon, 37 points
North Melbourne v Adelaide, 18 points

You'd want to win this. Pressure is on North. You haven't won a round 1 clash in 7 years I think? Big expectations
There's expectations on all sides, but for this year, even more so for us.
