They effectively all have. bagging lids for a poor last quarter etc, etc, etc. Unless we win by big margins we cant win.
We did win mate it all good. That is the good thing we have so much improvement in us.God help the side we play when we play 4 qtrs of our best like the 2nd qtr.It will be a blood bath in fact that is what our cubs need a massive kill the taste of blood will be infectious.I am hoping it is against the Saints this friday night.I have a feeling it will be.Jack loves playing them.If he kicks one early look out!

Another roast from the post match. Just read Jake Nialls article and all he does is make excuses for Carlton losing. Instead of talking up the Tigers opening 3 quarters where we dominated Carlton he focuses on the Blues comeback in the last quarter. The funny thing is that had the roles been reversed I have no doubt that all he would have written about is how Richmond once again failed the opening round test.

Now I can understand that the media and some of our own fans have doubts about us being able to close out games but you would think that on the occasion where we acutally do close out a game that there would be a little bit more of a positive write up about how we're getting better.

Jake Niall
It had been said before the game that the Tigers needed to finally win one of these over-hyped round ones and begin their season on a finals-setting. In truth, that was only talk, since round one is worth no more than round 21.
Nathan Brown
For former Richmond and Western Bulldogs forward Nathan Brown, that loss encapsulates the club's inability to front up and perform in Round 1.

"The 2009 season was a perfect example. We finished 2008 with a bang and everyone was picking us to play finals.

"Our practice match form was brilliant, and we went into Round 1 so confident. To walk off having lost by 83 points, of any game I played in for my entire career, that was the most devastating loss,'' he said yesterday.

"I have played in preliminary finals, but that loss was more devastating. I have never been more shattered and I take responsibility as one of the senior players.

"The mood in the room afterwards was just eerie. It wasn't a final, it was Round 1. We still had 21 games to go, but we felt right there that we couldn't get back from that, and we couldn't.''

Didn't Swans last year nearly get run down or did get run down by I think Collingwood? Wondering if we are following a same path/game style as those guys and that it hard to sustain for 4 quarters etc.

The good..we won a game we shouldve won easily, that went down to the wire, that in the past we would have dropped. Well done to the tiges...very very important win in the big scheme of things and the boys brought it home. I dont subscribe to the "we were lucky" theory, in terms of the tankers fluffing the last couple of chances, because had we not fluffed our chances in the first half, they were starting the season with 45%...the end..now to consolidate the win with another next week and show the comp how much of a damaging team we are when we ****ing kick straight.

Chaplin- impressive, smart operator who was steering the troops down back, knows when to go and when not to, knows when a toe poke to get the ball to the boundary is required, rather than keeping it in as we are used to.
Titch - have to say he looks like he has added some more pace to his game, fired us back into the game in the first when we didnt come out of the barriers for the first 5-10 minutes.
Cotch & Lids, subdued games IMO, but produced when there was producing needed.
Maric - did what Maric does and continues his impressive form
Ty - had a rocket and produced what we have been waiting for and that also means in the ruck
Backline - superb performance for 3 and a bit qtrs..get stretched in the end, but they offered enough pressure to have them miss shots
FL, still flaky and smalls apart from Titch nowhere....i mean who are our HFs? I cant remember anything substantial from them.
Dustin - in and out performance, kicked a beauty after Yarran had put on a party trick to level the ledger...last quarter was lost at sea, just got tired.
Tuck - geez he is just getting better..
Luke - as i said light years ahead of a Miller which puts us ahead of last year.
Batch- got back to what we are used to with him, solid no nonsense performanc

Overall a great win in a pressure cooker game that will hold us in good stead for the rest of the year..

Oh and I forgot to mention that someone has been teaching our talls a trick that I noticed from Ivan and Luke of all people that sliced open tight plays, there were a couple of the slickest look away back door hand balls to a running teammate that were sublime..we are learning a few tricks and learning them good now.

Got given a ticket to the Carltonians dinner on Friday night. So pretty happy that they were VERY Quiet at the end. Also hoping that they are paying for the drinks by the glass I tried to put a serious dent in the Carlton Profit if they are.

Great night. Man love for Cotch.

Maric made some huge errors in that final term which Carlton scored from.
agree sante, very unlike maric game from the big fella, kruezer got the better of him in my opinion in the throw ins. He kept looking at him as he was running in to. contest

At this stage Friday 24deg and mostly sunny, 5% chance of rain. Should be good conditions for hard and fast footy. If its as good a game as last year we will be in for a treat.

Yesssssssss and I will finally be there.

Derm on SEN now saying carlton should've won

What a bastard. We deserved the win. We were up by 42 and let go of it. If we had lost people would've said we should and deserved to win with that kind of massive lead. Now some Hawthorn old bag is going to criticize our methods of winning?

1. Derm is DOUCHE. Was listening to SEN when he said that, I personally cant stand the bloke.

2. Well done on the win fellas it was good to see you guys hold on in tough encounter. You guys held on, that in itself should get rid of some of the demons from last year!

3. How far away is A.Edwards from getting a gig? What his form like in the NAB, I honestly thought he would have fitted your structures perfectly and provided a foil for Riewoldt but it looks as though McGuane is doing a pretty good job at that!

Didn't do anything to get rid of the demons i'm afraid.Self doubt is still there.

It's fair to stay at this stage he's a recruit for Coburg, hadn't set the world on fire in the 2 occasions he played seniors, although i hear he kicked 5 today in a Coburg practice match.

Not too concerned with the St Kilda game. Their talls are easily coverable, their key defenders aren't much chop and our midfield is simply better than theirs. I am expecting a win by a significant margin. They will probably come out firing due to their loss, so lets try and teach them a lesson and destroy their confidence.

To be honest I am quite worried for the Dogs game. They totally looked like a new outfit against the Lions. Morris will be able to cover Riewoldt and Roughead doesn't go too bad either. They really destroyed Bris on the inside ball so we might see Vlad/Arnot's debut come round 3.
