No that’s dreadful thinking. Dropping this one would be completely unacceptable for a side that has designs on a flag.
They’re a bottom 4 side - anything less than an 8 goal win would be underwhelming.
But when we win by 8 goals you will tell us it wasn't a good 8 goal win.

I had thought it was Scerri to the forward line and Bolton/Reid taking over Youngs midfield minutes. Would be surprised to see Noddy at a centre bounce.

possibly. Id like to see NoD in there. Like having a left footer in the middle, more clearance options

Scerri was my preferred in for Young, NOD over Sharpy is lineball. I join the collective sigh on O'Mac over Davies, but the proof will be in the pudding.

Honestly though after Youngy getting concussed at training, the carry-on about Ryan being dropped early in the season when it turned out he was too ill to be considered for selection, who knows what is actually going on behind the scenes? Davies could have have developed a severe ingrown toenail for all we know.

Do people know that is not the saying?

That is almost as egregious as the selection :tearsofjoy:

He got almost a quarter of those goals against Oscar McDonald in round one.
If you take that out entirely, he still averages 1.9 goals a game which puts him ahead of every Docker bar Amiss and Treacy. It puts him equal 24th in the comp for goals/game.

All I’m saying is he’s no scrub

This board has always been dismissive of key forwards at other clubs even though they kick just as many or even more goals than our players. Neale is going really well for his age and size.

I did not, let me try again.

The proof of the pudding shall be in the eating of said pudding, insofar as the reader understands that the pudding we are referring to is no pudding at all, it is infact the gameday performance of one Oscar McDonald in this weekends football fixture between the Fremantle and Essington football clubs, juxtaposed against the presumed 3 Brownlow vote game that young Hugh Davies had proofing in the oven (proverbial), were he to have been selected in lieu of the aforementioned Oscar McDonald.

While I'm as disappointed as anyone that Hugh didn't get a guernsey, my disappointment is more for him and the fact he is still behind Omac than it is in our match committee.

Here's what I know: JL and his team want to win a flag this year more than any single one of us. We're in win now mode, not develop for the future mode.

Ideally those things would line up but if there's a view that Omac will make us even 1% more likely to bank the 4 points this weekend then that's the tac I want us to take. Sure, it's possible that they might make mistakes but on balance it's far more likely that they have identified a need for Omac's point of difference compared with Hugh (whatever that might be).

I'll back the selection lads - they've been doing alright so far this year.

Oh no we’re playing McDonald over Davies much of a muchness to me, theres a argument in here that Davies should be blooded because he’s younger and playing better footy at Peel, apparently not in the coaches eyes.

So what you're saying is we’re eating Oscar MacDonald?? Not sure I like the sounds of that

If I’m Davies I’m taking a visit to the coaches office to ask what more I can possibly do
Starting to get worried we lose him for like a fourth rounder and he becomes a star.

Then a few years later Pearce retires and we're trading two first rounders to get a similar level KPD.

Sam Collins 2.0 except without the other capable KPDs on the list.

Selectors have got it right - yet again.
Hope Scerri has a good game. Conditions should suit his style. His main problem will be living up to the hype following his first outing for us.
Laughable that some thought he should keep Freddy out of the side a few weeks ago.
Not a fan of Davies as a key position defender. Good overhead and strong through the core but not sure of his decision making, disposal skills and general athleticism. Happy to be proved wrong on any or all counts when he does get another chance at top level.
MacDonald is rather meh but has been part of the defensive group on several occasions.
Given Walker’s ongoing problems I think it’s imperative that we get Simpson up to scratch. Clarke is the only offensive weapon we have in defence at the moment. Real pity that Humphrey was not available for us - apparently.

can i borrow your time machine. I have some work deadlines I need to get on top of before the end of the week.

McDonald over Davies is not making a material impact to the result of this game, I dont think many would debate that, but to me it either shows;
1) They do not think Davies will be AFL level or:
2) There is zero view to the future

I dont like either option.

Exactly, both he and Omac are about level at the moment but give it 2 yrs and Omac will be retired
