Whats the go with Young? Is he having ongoing symptoms?
It could just be that since he did it in training, the completion of the 12 days comes closer to the next game and they're reluctant to say anything either way until that time has passed.

The twelve days should have elapsed on Sunday, Tuesday training was day 14 so clearly not progressing as we would have hoped. Happy for us to take a cautious approach though if something is lingering.

Except he first reported symptoms on the Thursday, no? Clock starts then, surely?

With concussion protocols there is timeline to follow. The fact he hasn’t been ruled out should mean everything is going to schedule. But he will have complete a full session, with contact, showing no symptoms after to complete the protocol & be cleared to play.

The concussion occurred on the Tue and was reported Thursday, so Thu is the first day out of protocol and the first chance to prove himself fit. The two weeks off would have been great for his hammy too.

Assuming fitness tests are passed...

In: Pearce, Young
Out: OMac, NOD

Unless they don't want to submit Young's hammies to a return flight to Brisbane.

I'll say the following after not watching a single Peel game ever due to not living in WA (but I reckon not many posters see Peel games).....I think the calls for Simpson come from that one pass he did into the forward line. From my understanding, he hasn't been demanding selection during the preseason or from his Peel games.
You can watch the Peel games live streamed and replays on Seven Plus. I have watched most games live and watched replays of some of quarters.

Simpson’s form the past 3 weeks has been good and his best game was on the weekend. Some very nice ball use.

His one on one defending isn’t as good as McVee and no where near as good as Worner. His ball use is better than both.

The backline have been performing well as a whole. Worner is prone on occasions to a brain freeze when attempting to exit D50 in an attacking manner. McVee hesitates with ball in hand and then often puts himself under pressure when disposing. On the whole they have both been going ok if they could iron out those issues.

What I like about Cooper is his composure. Never panics and as such makes good disposal decisions. In one on one defending he isn’t anywhere near as good as the other two.

For now no change and Cooper has to wait his turn. McVee is sailing close to the wind for mine. His defending and defensive positioning saves him because his disposal certainly is not.

If McVee has Simpson's kicking we would be set.

JL more hopeful than confident on Young, won't take any risks. Still got a few more boxes to tick
That's a bit scary, what was the hit at training I wonder?

I wonder if they name him and fly him and see how it goes. A few more days is a big difference.

Winning without Serong and Young would be pretty bloody hard

I wouldnt by flying Young over unless you play him.

Assume this means we'll one again have a bit of a tag in there? The pattern since last year seems to be team-dictated more than opponent-dictated. When we don't think we've got the kettle to dominate their midfield, we tag.

I don't mind it. We can't win every game and even if we lose this one we won't have shown our full hand to Brisbane if we meet them again. And if we do win there will be extreme confidence that nobody can beat us when we get to full strength.

Plus it could be beneficial to give Reid, MJ, Ras and NOD more responsibility in a cauldron/finals like game (which this will be as Brisbane will be angry). Even Scerri (if he stays in) if we need him in the finals.

Only 35k go to these games, possibly less.
Hardly a cauldron, but the cauldron is their midfield.
Hopefully someone runs thru that little prick Neale

Love this challenge. JL suggested during the week that our system is what makes us good. If that's the case, then we should be able to plug players into said system and be really competitive. The only thing that matters is that we show up and show great effort. From there, the result will take care of itself more often than not. Its an exciting period to be in. Super excited to see some of our fringe be exposed to this sort of challenge to see if they have what it takes. These are the types of games you just want to see someone like Scerri or NOD have a career game. We'll learn a lot on Saturday!
