Tbf Gerard brought that up.
I thought his commentary was pretty fair. Called out other decisions that went one way but not the other - mainly their way.

Still can’t believe they missed that totally obvious shove in the back that the Dees player who sniped Nas did and then goalled from.

Listening to the shows tonight appears all coaches are ropeable about umpiring. Hopefully with Greg Swan’s return he’ll be able to do something about the standards.
I watched the first half of the game again last night (I tend to re-watch all of our games a second time a few days later, when I can be calm and analytical) and the commentary was off the charts bad. Between the shocking first half umpiring and Jordy's man-crush on "Melky" and "Trac", and the dodgy camera work/directing it was amateur hour. The thing that really stood out was that we were one of two teams out there, so fair to say we should have been the object of roughly 50% of the commentary - not so fast grasshopper!

Melksham suffered some sort of shoulder injury which received significant mention and replays. We, on the other hand, are a youth focused team, and arguably our 2nd most prominent young player behind Nas is Matteas. I picked up on the broadcast this time where he pulls up hobbling with an injury on camera (I thought I saw it live but wasn't sure!). No wonder I wasn't sure about it live, not only did it not get mentioned at the time it happened, but he also left the ground, went into the rooms and had been subbed off for 5 minutes before his name was even mentioned in commentary !!

The commentary team were too busy waffling about crap, with Jordy voicing his concern for "Melky". It's been mentioned, but Jordan Lewis is an insufferable oxygen thief.

Generally if they haven't re-signed by July they're gone, so maybe a couple more weeks.

My only hope is that his manager is saying "while you're improving every week the offers will keep improving, so no hurry, keep smashing it and we'll get you $1.5m a year". Probably not wrong tbh.
De Goey kept Saints and Pies fans guessing up till the end of September in 22 and stayed. Battle the same but left.

All is not lost.

Jordan Lewis is my least favourite pundit going at the moment. I would say it's Purple but "pundit" implies at least some level of experience or expertise, and Purple has become so irrelevant that I literally never encounter his vindictive bullshit on whatever dusty corner of AFL.com he inhabits these days.

Say what you will about Kane but you know he's at least partially playing a sensationalist caricature and on some level I respect his commitment to the bit. And there's about one real take in every ten clickbait ones that I think he nails.

Jordan Lewis however is transparently a pseudo intellectual who likes the taste of his own bathwater. He is agonisingly out of his depth in terms of analysis when compared to the likes of Buckley or even Garry Lyon who I don't like but at least has some skill as a host. Even J Riewoldt knows to stick to his lane, popping up occasionally on broadcasts with an often astute call on a forward set up or something. Jordan Lewis compensates for his lack of analysis skill and personality by wearing fake glasses and name dropping just so that everyone listening is 100%, absolutely certain, that yes, Jordan Lewis did in fact play AFL footy. Unbearable.

Indeed!! He'd be out of his depth in a puddle !!

Imagine if it was Ben Long a few years ago, wasn't he an umpires and the MRO favourite. Would have been 10 weeks at least.

He looks a lot happier at the Suns, hated to lose him but happy for him that he has found his place..
Yeah, when "likelihood to cause injury" was used to suspend, despite this never really being used again. 2 weeks for his hit on Macrae, I think Pickett got similar for his bump on Smith? Outcome based suspensions are a farce, if Wanganeen-Milera now shows delayed concussion, Johnson's suspension doesn't increase.

There was a play early on where Sharman launched up higher than Katy Perry and came down with a thud. I was really concerned as you could see him in the background lying on the turf receiving attention.

The commentators made no reference to it at all and my concern was only allayed many minutes later when I saw Coops lead up to the wing and take a mark.

I remember it from the live broadcast, and like you eventually found out that Coops was OK when I saw him involved in the play later - it was almost like there was only one team there, ****ing dreadful!!

Yep I was the exact same with a "oh thank goodness" when I saw him on that long camera shot down the ground after the previous view of him was in the hands of the doc/physio down the ground. Hopeless. It's not just the umpires having a Mare of a season.

There was another when we were onto a great piece of play and instead focussed on the Melbourne player lying on the ground too. Tbh there are so many games when listening to the commentary you'd barely know we were playing

He's also our best draft selection since Roo. I might say our best value pick ever at pick 11. Massive cudos to the club and selectors on this one.

He's got all the tools plus more.
Lenny Hayes was pick 11.

Not sure if you mean just Pick 11s, but as value picks relative to where they were picked, Sinclair, Marshall, Wilkie all say hi, not to mention past players like Milne.

He's really closing the gap between his best and worst.

Didn't kick a goal on the weekend but contributed really well.
You can tell straight off the boot if it’s a goal or not. If it stay long and flat it’s a goal. If it get a bit of air, even a “normal” amount, he has missed!
