Man him up isn’t really a thing.

You’re either dangerous enough to draw the defender to you when the high ball is coming in or not.

The more comfortable the defender feels he can slack off the more he will.
Shouldn't we then be looking for that player? He should be wide open in our 50

I thought as soon as we started running cats players went into panic mode. They didn’t want to run at all.

We allowed them to slow the game down thanks to turnovers
This is so spot on and is the reason Geelong has so much trouble with Richmond.
When the ball comes in quick, (it doesnt even have to go to player grass is fine) we were all over them.

Sure, if you imagine our forward line follows some imaginary structure from the old days were we only have 6 forwards and they have 6 defenders…. Instead modern football pushes numbers into defense and we push numbers high up the ground.

On most entries besides a centre clearance there must be like 18-30 players total in our forward half. Even if we’ve got an outnumber, good luck picking a single player out in space with that.

There is certainly a worrying trend for whatever reason that has occurred under Hinkley throughout his time in charge. Players seem to have a breakout year or period and then stagnant for a equal amount of time or longer:

WINES: Amazing first few years before an equal period where he struggled to find his best form.
SPP: Fantastic first year before a drop off in form.
DBJ: All Australian in 2020, way out of form this year.
LOBBE: More than a serviceable ruckman in 2014 then almost lost his talent overnight like Ian Baker-Finch the golfer.
HARTLETT: Had the potential to be an 'A Grade' player but never reached that standard.
WINGARD: Duel All Australian from memory very early in his career and never reached those heights again as a player.

Just a few names off the top of my head which probably sum up why Port Adelaide has never had success under Hinkley as many of our players haven't been able to at least maintain their level of performance from year to year or ideally improve to become elite.
I'm more than a little concerned that the same will occur again with our elite youngsters drafted from the last 2-3 years.
Lol its complacency - what our coach specialises in

Not sure if this has been posted but no Cameron we win last night. The fact that a GF team can pick up another gun from the expansion clubs p*sses me off big time. Richmond have one of their flags coz they picked up Lynch. Sick of gun GC & GWS players going back to Vic premiership contenders.
i think you may be right, either way just get the player off the ground.

I really get the feeling that our club and probably all the others simply pretend players are fine when they aren’t to avoid concussion tests. Although i also wonder if players know how to beat them anyway.
Yeah was Farrell.

Looked like he kicked it while rocking back on his heels.
Should have taken a deep breath and switched the play or pumped it to CHF.

Should have.....

The ball gets walked out of our defense at stoppage with chain of handball. I watched a stoppage last night in our forward 50 where we did not have one player standing goal side of the stoppage. The ball gets hit to the dangerous part of the ground and there was 4 cats raffling it of to eachother to run it out.
Happens in all of our games.

NUFC, YES.
When did we last get a win against the odds with an injury depleted 22 under Hinkley?

Never happens, we just don't find a way to win when we have to. Seems to completely rely on year round healthy list, with Boak and Gray playing above themselves just for us make finals.
This is probably wrong, but that game in 2015 against the Hawks sans Wines and Gray?

Were we really injured that night though? Yeah, we were $6 odds to win but the Gray's had a purple patch with Ryder having 40 HOs.

For some reason we allow teams to come to AO every single year and resurrect their seasons.

We exist to restore other team's top 4 hopes.

In reality we are 4 goals below the top 4 teams. 5-8 at best this year. What set us apart last year was our forward line pressure and our ability to lock it in. With the combination of a drop off there and the man on the mark rule, we have been shown up.

If the test was hit a target by foot 30m away, Farrell failed the test. ;)

Shouldn't have taken the kick and the umpire should have been onto the fact he wasn't in a fit state.

Don't know how to sum up Farrell's turnover. He was affected in the tackle but turned the ball over at a crucial moment.

Teammates should be supporting him at that moment ready to collect the HB receives. Workrate was poor in the fourth quarter.
