Gresham(MID) to Papley(FWD) with Menadue (FWD/MID) subbed into the mids.

Grimley is a loophole though and across 2 lines to boot. Essendon also don't play many early games before the bye. It's like throwing away a trade for zero actual benefit.

Essendon actually have 5 Friday or early Saturday, 1 late Saturday arvo, and 2 Saturday night (melb time) between rd 2 and rd 13. He's not ideal for loopholing. That said, I agree - if you're making that trade it needs to have been before the season started, not now.

I'm going to try to hold on trades, but I can see 3 potential trades I want to make before price rises so it's going to be a test of my resolve.
I would love to get Papley and Hewett in, but would prefer to wait and see how they, and my potential dumpees go next week. I would also love to dump an Essendon player from my DEF, but would need cash from one of the other two trades to do it.

I'm telling myself at the moment: Hold and see who I want most of Papley and Hewett, and grab one of them plus a better defender after round 2, and either wear the price rise on the other rookie or bite the bullet and go without. I think this is the smarter course of action.

Oh, and don't mind me guys, I'm just thinking aloud, if thinking's allowed. Except for the bit about Grimley. That's a talky bit.

I am tempted to take out Fyfe from my team and follow what 4.97% of the people done but who to bring in ??
If you feel it will benefit your team, then go for it. I would only do it if he was injured, Fyfe deserves one more chance.

People will tell you its a stupid trade, waste of a trade etc etc, but I can guarantee you everyone on this board will do a couple of them throughout the year. So back your gut, if you think you need the cash to improve your structure etc then now's the time.

1. You shouldn't
2. The only time I could forgive trading him out would be because you need the money for something else
For example, I don't have Weitering and any cash left.
Fyfe to Parker allows me to go Hartley/Tippa to Weitering

Would not recommend it, but if you're going to do it, you must have a bigger reason

Priddis or GAJ are the obvious contenders.

Wait to see if named. Even so, give him a chance!!
Don't wanna trade him out to then see him average 120 for the rest of the season!! Hold on fella

I understand trying to conserve trades but I have a real dilemma in Greene. He scored 50, was weak, bounced off tackles, missed set shots and hovered around packs. Looking through his career history he does tend to go 50,100,50,100 but I wasn't selecting him to average the same as last year. I feel that saving a trade would only cause me to lose points in the short and long term. There are a few candidates to trade him to but my favorite is Wingard. Scored 125 on the weekend and when watching the game it was obvious that it was not one of those 'fluke' games where a player scores way above their average (I'm not saying he will average 125 maybe 110). However, last year he went 120, 60, 70. The other thing to consider is Wingard will most likely be a top 6 forawrd while Greene will not.

Worth a trade?

First scenario that you should run through when picking someone

1) If this guy stinks it up in Round 1, will I want to sideways him?

If the answer is yes, why are you picking him? You clearly have no faith in him performing throughout the season.
Obviously it's too late for that now, so if you really believe you've made the wrong decision you might as well change it.

Gov to Biggs?
The epitome of chasing last rounds points, every player off the Dogs backline had 30-35 touches and thats not going to happen every week or even again this year. Biggs is a good player but I wouldn't be backing him in to be a defensive keeper.

Oliver gets my vote as the cripps/touk guy of this year.
think a few may jump off then he'll go bang.
so much upside.
Oliver actually scored pretty well first up, people would be crazy to jump off.
