Alright kids, time to pick ourselves off the canvas. Was a kick in the nuts to lose to the Saints in the manner in which we did however as the old saying goes 'there's always next week'. With Brock out, hopefully Byron can come in and ruffle some feathers on Monday. Does anyone know anything about Syl and how he's traveling at the moment? Could he come in? Godfrey is another possibility.
From all reports I've heard Wheels is good to go after his mammoth hit on Ball. There are doubts here and there whether the bump was legal or not but if he gets suspended for it I'm going to scream bloody murder. There was no suspension from the Giansiracusa and Kosi incident last year and it was almost a carbon copy of that hit so I believe he should be OK.
As mentioned by a lot of us Melbourne supporters, this has to be Oozes final chance. It's not as though the record is going to cement him as an all time great in history...Does anyone else believe that a record like this, albeit rather impressive, is a bit hazy. What indication is there? That he played his heart out in every game or he avoided dropping games by slacking off? But yes, last chance for Ooze.
McLean seems to be our only certain out, any ideas for the ins?
I believe our back line is pretty sound despite the toweling Chopper got from Gehrig. Hopefully Jared can come back to tighten the screws. Would be insane to play Carroll on Franklin again after the NAB Cup disaster. Poses the question, who do we play on Franklin? Bruce? I have the impression that Franklin lacks a defensive side to his game, and Brucey could damage on the rebound because of this. Wheels can do a job on the likes of Clarke/Williams whereas Carroll can play on Roughead or Boyle, depending on who the Hawks throw up forward. Campbell is likely to go up there given a somewhat hight disadvantage the Hawks have.
You would suspect that McDonald will do a job on Hodge or Mitchell. Jones could take Mitchell as they are similar players. Forward line is functioning properly but as always, the worry is Miller. The Hawks back line seems rather unaccountable and I believe Robbo will perform well having to play against the likes of Jacobs or Young. Neitz to have a good game too!
Also, ditch the handpass gameplan. After watching the Hawthorn Brisbane game, the Hawks seem to lack a bit of a toughness/strength side to them. Hopefully we can capitalize on this through Jones, McDonald, Moloney, Neitz and Whelan. There are technical problems we must rectify throughout the week which is manageable. But come Monday we gotta hit them hard in the middle and pump it long into the forward line. Old fashioned football should prevail against the Hawks I would have thought.
Demons by 18 points. Suggested changes would be great guys!
Cheers
