Kane will most likely goto Swan. MM might push Swan up forward which he has before, and take Kane out of the game. Just not so sure on Cornes this week even with his past scores against Collingwood. I dont think Cornes has had to tag Swan before so Im not too sure how Swan handled it. Who does Kane usually tag against Collingwood when its not Swan? Pendelbury or Burns? Will probably stick to Cox or Deledio depending on the weather on Saturday and Sunday.

Calvin Moore and Thursfield were among the tigers best in the terrible performance on Sunday, I'd be hesitant to put buddy as skip against them, they are quite under-rated and will work well for eachother. There's probly a bigger chance he'll kick 3.5 or 2.7 than the 8 he needs for a really good captain score to make the risk worthwhile.

Yeah im slowly backing away from Buddy. With the whole Coleman medal betting suspended thing, Buddys cork and the predicted rain, things arent quite looking rosy for him.

Im heading towards Cox or Jimmy this week now.

I could go with Corey again this week seeing as there will be tackles a plenty and he'll still get at least 20 touches, but might go with K.Cornes instead this week. Last week he had a hard tag on Judd (7 tackles saved his score), but in terms of getting his own ball he wasn't looking to do it much. I think he'll play a little looser on Swan/Pendlebury, allowing him to take more marks.

Cross isn't captain worthy for me anymore. Doggies don't kick it to him and when they do it bounces 2 metres in front of him. I'm also hesitant to give Riewoldt the [C], I can't bring myself around to make a forward captain with the amount of times i've been burnt.

May also run with Black like earlier this year.

very true

get rid of Griffen/Ray/Eagleton and bring back Westy, they used to have a handballing partnership thing going on

i've actually noticed that the Doggies don't go up the corridor as much as they used to, which is where Cross hangs out most of the time (which equals no marks)

got the week off this week so will take a tab at Kane Cornes to try and boost my ranking for the year have the feeling that Jimmy boy will have a monster but I don't have to worry so will stick to good ol' Kane

That's from BOM site. Just gone for capital cities. Little bit of rain about, but not much to speak of.

With J White out, Cox seems a shoe in.

Not exactly IMO. Watching the Ess vs Mel game two weeks ago I was pretty stunned at how convincingly smashed Hille was in the ruck and around the ground by Jamar and Paul Johnson. They are a pretty underrated combo IMO. Just a quick look at the numbers the opposition rucks racked up against them.

Round 19: Ottens 78 Blake 68
Round 18: Hille 57
Round 17: Petrie 73
Round 16: Sandilands 72
Round 15: Minson 61
Round 14: Charman 47
Round 13: Jolly 96
Round 12: Simmonds 77
Round 11: Fraser 73
Round 10: King 42

Of course these numbers aren't too flash due to the majority being dud ruckman, but between these 10 players only Blake (av 59) Jolly (av 78) and Minson (av 59) managed to pass there respected averages for the year. The top ranked ruckman behind Cox are Sandilands, Hille and Simmonds and they could only manage 72, 57 and 77 respectively. Also Petrie who has been running very hot lately only managed 73.

Melbourne haven't been conceiding many DT points these past few weeks and it looks as though it carries on through into the ruck department. Remember that this ruck combo has only come together this year, meaning that Cox's past 3 scores (84,83,122) have been predominantly against White. Just my 2 cents.

Great post mate. Probably won't effect Cox much but Jamar coming in is not as good for Cox as if White was playing.

Hille was smashed because he just stood in the one spot all match. So frustrating watching him the last two weeks, he has just become lazy all of a sudden.

Jamar is a decent tap ruckman though, Cox might not have it all his way.

Tell me about it. Picked him up 2 weeks ago and already regret it; I thought he would have another big game against Cox like he did earlier in the season. Listening to him on an interview saying he prides himself on beating the best in the competition, just didn't look interested on the weekend. Jamar is a much better tap ruckman than White, and Johnson is very quick for a big man and moves around the ground well.

Cheers buddy, I enjoy your posts myself.
Agreed, White isn't as strong in the ruck, he isn't as tough at the ball and his work ethic is half that of Jamar/Johnson. Just my opinion.

WCE don't play at the G much but Cox does seem to love it there.

I've got that many donuts its not funny this week so im gonna take a risk and give Hodge captain duties. Can't really find a match up that the Tiges have for him either....any Hawks fans wanna support my decision to make the great man skipper?

I'm not convinced by any stats against Cox at this stage. The guy has posted some massive numbers, has played with an injury for the most part of the year, and Melbourne are missing their ruckman.

I think the key to Cox doing well this week, is WCE playing poorly, and Cox trying to play Mid,Back, Forward and Ruck all in one like we've seen so many times this year. I can't see his opponents shutting him down either, the only other contender for All Australian ruckmen got completely pantsed by Cox last week.

I'd be expecting a 120+ this week.

Melbourne's ruckman came back this week - White is finished. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if cox scored 120+, was just pointing out it may not be as clear cut as some people are thinking i.e. Cox vs Melb = orgasm :D

WCE haven't been THAT bad the last 3 weeks; probably why Cox hasn't managed a big score lately. I think it was 54 dogs who initially pointed out a couple weeks back how Cox's score greatly increases when West Coast are getting thumped, for as you say he is allowed to just play that free roaming style. I don't think Melbourne are capable of smashing any side in the comp. Educated geuss I think Cox will score between 90-105. WIll be interesting now to see how he goes. :thumbsu:

decided on Monday i would be captaining Cox this week...

BEFORE reading anything in this thread or looking at the poll !!!

... and after being persuaded to my detrement last week, i will be sticking with my 1st choice.

wtf is IIRC :confused::confused::confused:

can someone explain this bizarre new terminology to me

seen it a gazillion times in the last month.
LOL. I had to Google it before I knew what it meant a couple of months ago after seeing it on a forum! Haha :p. It means "if I recall correctly"

Kirk and Jack, though Jack was omitted IIRC. Im thinking Kirk to try and tag Ablett.

I think we might see Jarrad McVeigh go either head-to-head or tag Ablett. He's been in very good form of late and has much more pace than Kirk. Kirk should go to either Bartel or Corey with Jude Bolton going to the other, my take on it anyway.
