I agree-it's the lies which are so patronizing and frustrating. Tell your beloved Magpie Army what is going on Fly. We don't need to know the details-just as you said-indefinite leave and unavailable to play. Then we at least give up the hope we have- only to be let down again each week. Why didn’t someone ask Fly why we didn’t play Hill for at least part of the VFL game? We did it a month or so ago, he kicked three goals and then came back into the seniors with DeGoey. Then gets “gastro” (more than two weeks ago now) and is suddenly miles off being able to play.
Nobody believes the BS that is being spun. They should have just said that he is going on indefinite personal leave and left it at that, instead of spinning it into an implausible match fitness cover story.
We play way too honest at times I agree. Someone who can perfect the art of ducking a little (not to their or teams detriment) would be a nice asset. Just having one or two frees in that F50 would be so handy. That’s where Ginni was nice to have. Just had the knack for itToo many numbers back and slippery ball. I think if we want the game to be played squeezed into our forward half, we've got to practice drawing frees. We needed a Hawk small or a Peatling to buckle at the knees or drive the head into someone and get a free.
To me it's pretty simple - the out of zone umpires should only pay off the ball frees. Otherwise in a situation like that they're overruling the umpire with the better view. They need to get rid of umpires outside of zones paying free kicks. Unless it is an off the ball hit, how can you make a call with confidence when you are 70metres away from the action?
Might as well have an umpire upstairs on a microphone making the calls to an umpires earpiece.

Granted.Yep, if a lesser performance by Brody exists, I can't remember it. Maybe against May a few years back, or McGovern the WC gorilla.
I want to bring up Long as one that could join your queue of underperformers. Can't question endeavour, can question composure.

played for F50 stoppage then gave them a free hand by playing cameron a kick behind rather than rucking those F50 stoppages. They walked it out all night and we kept doing the same thingNot a bad option
Sounds like Fly was trying to get stoppage but being unpredictable would help
Yes, he was truly brilliant.
Our defence is back to its best.
This is what still gives us a chance.
Midfield pressure was also great tonight.
But the forward line, and the lack of plan against flooding, is a massive issue.
Anyone floods against us when they get the lead, and we can't score.
It is so obvious.
Why TF can't we find an answer?
True. But any system that gives the benefit of the doubt to a free kick, which our system does, is flawed as it gives increased benefit to players who play for frees. You've just got to trick one of the umpires and it's a free even if the other ones saw that it was rubbish or you caused the high contact, etc. That assumes that the umpire who is closest to the ball has the best view, which isn’t always the case.
Ginni was getting his head ripped off at Collingwood and got nothing from the umps after the media decided to make a huge issue out of ducking now that Collingwood was benefiting from the rule. Since moving away from Collingwood the media don't give a **** anymore. We play way too honest at times I agree. Tackling is a futile enterprise for us right now. Even if we manage to stick it, which isn’t that often, the result is a repeat stoppage or a high contact free. There is no reward, only potential to keep an opponent from setting up play.According to fly we had 39 forward 50 stoppages for 3 pts. 32 tackles inside 50 to 6. You’d expect some reward if only a couple of frees for a goal or 2.
time to get the scuba tanks out at training
I’m concerned about our forward 50m tackling in particular never being rewarded. We have players like Parker getting nailed for being in possession a millisecond, or if a player has one arm free despite no prior opportunity, but Adelaide players took on the tackler in our forward 50m multiple times and then dropped the ball when tackled for no result.I’m sure if you went through our footage we’d have had a few of those as well. They weren’t the 50-50 decisions that bothered me. I’m more concerned about the Thilthorpe kicking the footy away decision, the 50m Maynard should have gotten after his holding the man free when the Crows player took an eternity to return it to him, and a few holding the footy decisions that were let go. They’re basic frees that have been consistently umpired and just weren’t.
Let's give them more theatre and introduce captains call.Lmao The umpiring is so rigged. After favouring the crows all night, they give Collingwood a free kick out of thin air to give us one last ditch effort to win the match.
The AFL care more about the theatre than anything else.
I would take that, and they would fair dinkum shit their dacks over there, having to play against our best 23 in the dry.Why 5-8th? We will smash Melbourne this week. Get a few % back.
I see us finishing 4th and beating Umpirelaide in our first final.
You’re right. Nicks would be concerned.Great - so you acknowledge the improvement - of course we need betterinside 50 connection. But do you think Nicks is sleeping easy tonight knowing how much territory they conceded by allowing us 34 more I50’s.
Do you think he’s comfortable that he wins the next meeting with that stat?
Just don't think the Checkers and McStay combo works. Are our forwards not working for each other any more? Why can’t we isolate anyone like we could earlier in the season.
Yep - Keane. The blueprint was in the 1st quarter. Manic effort to move the ball forward fast.
Once the game turned into a grind the obvious one would have been to try neutralise Keane's dominance. We couldn't win a f***ng contest.
Really fed up of autopsy threads.
I’m not good at losing and we’re now making a habit of it.
Definitely improved which was good.
Still a big problem with disconnect between our mids and forwards. Been a glaring issue since the Freo loss especially yet not seeming to be fixed.
Checkers looks checked out.
McStay looks scared to do his knee again.
Elliott is getting a lot more oppo attention since his bags of goals and his influence has been removed from games now.
Membrey ok but doesn’t do enough.
The loss of Bobby Hill from our side cannot be understated. It has derailed our season to lose him. His contribution to teammates getting goals, his forward line pressure to keep the ball inside 50 for force a turnover and score. These are missing now.
Howe is required to make Moore acceptable. Without a Howe or Murphy, Moore is constantly shown up.
Houston is not working. Gives away too many frees so can’t have him deep in defence. Too costly.
Anyway top 4 still possible but far less probable now. And we’ll almost certainly travel to Adelaide or Gold Coast.
We went all in this season, backing our star recruit to join the grey army. We had to manage players to get through. It was a gamble and we have lost it would see.
This is hard to turn around now. Yes you can win from outside the top 4, but you’d damn sure want to be taking some good form into finals. That’s not us.
Just such a massive disappointment how this year has now played out. Two months ago, I was dreaming of a grand final week, maybe flag #17.
And now the umps give him his frees all the time from blatant ducks because he’s wearing a different coloured jumper. How the AFL got away with this without any scrutiny is BS tbhGinni was getting his head ripped off at Collingwood and got nothing from the umps after the media decided to make a huge issue out of ducking now that Collingwood was benefiting from the rule. Since moving away from Collingwood the media don't give a **** anymore.
Hopefully we get another crack at them week 1 of the finals.
Both sides learnt a lot about eachother last night.
Need results to fall our way.
