Brayshaw on Gaff would be excellent. For a while, Gaff should be and will be scared to even breath on Andy, his team mates too will be light on with the bumps and manhandling off the ball - where anyone else would get the full treatment. Even if the effect is only for the first 5 minutes before it's business as usual, that would be handy.

Brayshaw belting Gaff into next week would be better but here’s hoping that prick retires before ever seeing a flag.

We wont boo Andy Brayshaw (I cant blieve some here think we would). But we'd probably cheer Gaff... its our first home game with him back.
I know the majority of sports fans are decent but there are some real campaigners too. At the West Coast vs Freo scratchie a couple of weeks ago there was an idiot in his West Coast gear yelling at the top of his voice "watch your jaw Dockers" every time Brayshaw went near the ball. There will be boos on Saturday, you can count on it - just as there will be boos for Gaff when it's a Dockers crowd. The difference is Gaff has earned his.

There are some eagles fans who actually think it was AB’s fault that Gaff got him, either by antagonising or stepping into the punch

These people are the scum of our society, who literally have smoked too many drugs in their youth. And will typically be ok with burning a dockers jumper post game

Then you have the Chardonnay wce elitist group who thankfully are all getting old and dying off, they just boo because they would hate to not feel included

The eagles fans are a special bunch.

Personally, I enjoy when my dog craps on their training ground in lathlain most mornings, and I subsequently then send a pic of it to my eagles mates and family!

The entire summer I really thought Gaff didn’t mean to hit Brayshaw’s face... really thought it was an accident... until JLT when they “shook hands”. Gaff couldn’t even look him in the eye. How good would it be if Crowley, Carr brothers, Grover were still playing 👊

Brace yourself for any tackle on Gaff to be a free kick for as a dangerous tackle - "to get on top of that stuff early"

He will be a protected species out there Saturday night.

So, business as usual then?
With the benefit of a full ground cheer every time he touches it and any niggle on him being prohibited contact free kicks against.

If he snapped and punched Brayshaw again, no serious injury - just a eyebrow cut and blood everywhere, it would be interesting to see the balance between "ten weeks!" and "he really is a great bloke though"

If he did it right before the siren giving Freo a shot at goal to win, and we won - then he would be turned on faster than a farter in a lift.

Gaff was looking sheepish and towards the ground. To me this was a sign of shame and embarrassment, he didnt feel worthy enough to look AB in the eyes. I don't see this as a sign of disrespect at all

I was thinking exactly the same thing. The umps will step in early, give a few horrible free kicks to West Coast probably resulting in a couple of cheap goals - then the crowd will be happy and the sting will have gone out of the game.

Umps will call it a win, West Coast will be happy, The West and 6PR can crow about it for another 6 months and Freo get put back in their place as nothing more than nuisance value.

I'm already pissed at it and it hasn't happened yet.

The West doing their best to rule Fyfe out of the Derby. Hows the so called expert who can make the call that he needs 19 specific days out of the game 24 hours after the incident.

Gaff will be cheered, but you’re surely kidding yourself if you think Gaff getting cheered is somehow unique to West Coast. Sport fans will always cheer ‘their’ guy, almost regardless of what they’ve done.

It doesn’t mean people condone what he did, but I wouldn’t be holding my breath waiting for 55k+ thousand people to sit in uncomfortable silence or actively boo their own player. He broke a kids jaw, he’s in no way the victim, but he’s also an athlete in front of thousands of people who want his team to win, so he’ll get cheered.

Swans fans continued to cheer Barry Hall, as you’d surely expect them to. Hell, Michael Vick reclaimed his mantle as one of the NFL’s most popular players even after he was jailed for running a dog fighting ring, one of the most unjustifiably reprehensible things you could even come up with.

Sport fans are weird. Every fan base in the world cheers their guy, because they happen to be playing for the ‘right’ team at that specific moment in time. I’m not saying it’s right, but it’s universal. Gaff will be cheered.

Would be very, very disappointed if Brayshaw gets booed though, that’s unjustifiable.

Absolutely love the signature. Not often do you get such a massive laugh when scanning bf.

7 west media are flogging it to death. Anyone would think the last word is up to them.

The WC don't enjoy playing against pacier sides, particularly their back six. Brisvegas couldn't quite take advantage of their initial height in the forward line at the start of the game, but changed it up after quarter time with a more fleet-footed forward set-up and absolutely buried them.

Similarly, the Bombers pantsed them last year by taking the game on at all costs with pace.

Loading up with pace where Freo could, would be worth more than half a thought. With an extra dose forward where possible.

Colyer could have a role at half forward, while Switkowski might be long odds if there's any doubt with his availability hopefully they look at it from the benefit side. Take the game on wherever possible, with an available option of kicking long to space and run them off their feet as it hits the ground.

Very risky way to beat them I'd think. It worked for Brisbane against an underdone/too young/too tall WC side in round 1 but WC have trounced Melbourne, Richmond and Collingwood sides far better than ours that were playing that way.

Although I've got no alternative so maybe it's worth a try.

Even more reason for Andy to play on Gaff. The umps will look like right idiots if they protect Gaff from regulation approved blocks and tackles etc from Brayshaw.

Ross was pretty strict on "no retaliation" in that match after the incident. I think the message will be just as strong and clear for this, concentrate on the game and not the man and that playing the man could be detrimental. Given that Andy has pushed the whole reconciliation thing between the 2, you'd think he'd be reinforcing that message as well. Hopefully there is no reason given for the umps to protect Gaff and they'll relax.

However, I hope that some swat squad are in place in the rafters of the stadium with tranquilizer guns, if Andy went down in this match from rough play it could get ugly.

He does need at least a week off, probably more. Heavy concussion is serious stuff
Players can get life long issues from these type of injuries.
Losing a couple of games of footy is irrelevant

I don't care if it takes Fyfe 12 weeks to get it right. It ain't worth the risk.

It certainly didn't look good and yes, he may need a week off but at the end of the day all concussion cases are different, that's half the problem - but everyone seems to have an opinion when they're not privy to the situation directly.

There have been players in the past who have come back on 6 day breaks which is why the media is making sure they broadcast all the risks, engaging so called experts for their opinion to make sure that Freo are under pressure not to play him.

My opinion is though, he shouldn't play - going to be smashed regardless so give him a week off.

Someone needs to be a defending forward on him for us to have a chance
If that was to be the strategy, you'd think Nyhuis would be the goto option, aiming to shunt him and put him off his run in to leap as the ball comes in.

Another option could be to try to maximise the tall timber and continually have multiple pronged targets to send the ball to in the forward line. Sounds obvious, but part of that is bringing the ball in from a more central point to spread the WC defence more effectively. Lots of long kick switching and/or lots of super quick ball movement to gain access to the corridor (hopefully this may also help stymie the rebound out of their defensive zone and lock it in Freo's front half more effectively). Easier said than done of course.
