tryed to put as much class as we have around the ball to clean up the carnage left behind from thomo danger n sloane in tight brown for doggas spot his young quick and will defend first gets first crack for mine would like to see vb have a go at playing pets roll a defensive foward when not needed to shut down the oppositions best mid think he would would work harder n be a bit smarter kicking goals in this role also
letting pets spend more time in the midfield think we need a real tuff contested player to rotate on ball when thomo n danger need a rest and i think pets has more strings to his bow than riley at this point hendo the obvious sub can play any position on the ground bar the ruck covering injuries and can inject some real pace and excitement late in a game think johncock might struggle to get in the side was a toss up between wright and nutta was a tuff call :(

FB: Crouch, Rutten, Otten
HB: McKay, Talia, Reilly
C : Smith, Thompson, VB
HF: Porplyzia, Jenkins, Vince
FF: Petrenko, Walker, Callinan
R: Jacobs, Dangerfield, Sloane
Int: Douglas, Wright, Johncock (Henderson)

Emerg: Johnston, Riley, Lyons

I'm seeing just the two changes from our team this year, with Crouch in for Doughty (straight substitution) and Jenkins replacing Tippett. I'm expecting Crouch to be fast-tracked and selected most weeks in the back pocket this year, in a developmental role, unless his form collapses completely (which can happen to a 1st year player).

It's still a strong team, even without Doughty & Tippett. Mind you, our depth could be tested before long should we suffer more than a handful of injuries.

F. Porpy. Smack. Pets.
HF. Hendo. Tex. Vince
C. VB. Thompson. Smith
HB. DMack. Jenkins. Radar.
B. Truck. Talia. Shaw.
R. Sauce. Danger. Sloane

Int. Wright. Crouch. Douglas.
Sub. Otten

Defence
Time to play Truck as a Fletcher type drop off defender, this will shuffle Talia to FB and Jenkins to CHB

midfield
Smith needs to be pushed into the midfield rotations and play that damaging outside mid role

Forward
Smack gets first crack at Muppett's spot and Hendo gets the 3rd forward role as his presents a incredibly difficult match up

Other
Stiffy and Callinan become insurance policy
Martin, Kerridge, Lyon, LJ, Brown and Matty J become next in line n

rucks: jacobs, dangerfield, wright

int: douglas, callinan, johncock, sub: pets

unlucky to miss out: riley, martin, smack, otten jaesnch.

Johnston wont be in round 1. For his size he doesnt take contested marks, hes fighting for a position with walker i reckon, so hes very doubtful. So i think lynch will get the nod because hes a workhorse and can play small.

Jenkins and walker to crash packs. Callinan, johncock and pets are lucky to be in. All three had horrible second halves to the year and got found out in finals. Also crouch isnt just going to walk into the side, hes a midfielder, not a forward, and hes not going to take the place of danger, sloane, wright, VB, mackay, vince, douglas, smith. It just wont happen.

My thoughts, and I've included our 2nd 18 as well, considering there's a lot of speculation regarding our reserves:

B: Reilly - Rutten - Shaw
HB: Mackay - Talia - Brown
C: Henderson - Thompson - Sloane
HF: Vince - Walker - Porplyzia
F: Johnston - McKernan - Lyons
1R: Jacobs - Dangerfield - Smith
I: Otten, van Berlo, Wright
S: Crouch
E: Lynch, Douglas, Petrenko

Reserves:
B: Laird - Thompson - Grigg
HB: Lynch - Jenkins - Douglas
C: Petrenko - Tambling - Martin
HF: Johncock - Orval - Jaensch
F: Dowdell - McIntyre - Callinan
1R: Graham - Kerridge - Riley
I: Joyce, Ellis-Yolman, ?Craig

Few thoughts:
- I reckon they've got Brown pencilled in as Doughty's replacement, think there's a good chance that he'll be given first run at that small defenders role. Certainly adds a good bit of pace to what is quite a slow backline.
- For mine Henderson is a deadset winger, has extreme pace, skill, workrate and aerobic ability, plus he has the benefit of being a great height so he can slip forward and create a loose man in defense.
- I'd like to see us develop Vince into a Stevie J type of HFF, who relieves through the midfield, I think he's his most dangerous in the forward half of the ground and is wasted when allowed to roam down back picking up cheap touches.
- Walker I think will take another step next year and become a Carey/Pavlich/Tredrea style power CHF, pushing hard up the ground, as well as working hard into the F50, he has a great tank for a guy his size and is so dangerous when the ball hits the ground.
- I think Johnston will really step up over the preseason and demand a spot in our F50. His late season form/consistency was extremely impressive IMO and I think he's now ready to step up to AFL footy. Should make for a great Scott Welsh style 3rd tall, similar to Walker can really make the most of limited opportunities.
- Should be great competition between McKernan and Jenkins over the preseason, although I suspect we might start developing Jenkins into a KPD to replace Rutten. With Walker stepping up I think we can afford McKernan's inconsistency up forward, for his ability to provide far greater relief for Jacobs than Jenkins.
- I think Lyons will become increasingly difficult to keep out of our best 22, has the ability to play as a small forward as well as being quite creative through the midfield. Think he might actually force Douglas from the side.
- I think Otten, with a good preseason should become our new everywhere man, starting with working through the midfield rotations, as well as providing relief through defense. Is quite damaging with his strong marking through the middle of the ground and is good at kicking to advantage.
- Crouch I think might be worked through the sub's position to start with.
- I think we might start trialing Douglas across a HBF, has really struggled to genuinely make a position his own and put his spot in the side beyond doubt. I rate his ability extremely highly, but he just takes it all too seriously, if he'd just relax a little I reckon he'd be a much better player, certainly wouldn't fall over so much...
- I think Johncock will struggle for a spot, I think he'll make for a great depth player, but he really was on the outer for most of this year, including finals and I really don't expect that to change terribly much.
- Callinan's a bit similar, really failed big time in the finals and as a mature recruit with plenty of SANFL finals experience, that was one of the big reasons he was there. I think he'll become more of a depth player, ensuring there's always pressure on those in the side to perform.
- Petrenko again, struggled late in the season and I don't think he's a small forward. Needs to be given a shot through the midfield or in defense. Even as a defensive small forward, just isn't damaging enough.
- Kerridge and Riley will be tough to keep out of the side, but are great, hard bodied inside midfielders and IMO are ready to step up as soon as required. I think we really have some great depth through our midline players.
