Your club is probably in the best position for that trade tbh.Late first at best but they wont trade him for that.
Depends on other factors though.

You need to look at the worth he brings for your side I suppose. On paper a first round pick for a 29 year old seems overs but when that player addresses your biggest weakness is elite at his position is very durable and could be a difference maker, a first round pick in a weak draft doesn’t seem to badLate first at best but they wont trade him for that.
You wont get given enough to afford any of the players i mentionedYou don't need to make moves to get draft capital, it gets given to you for free every year
I know its 1 year, but when you say his 30 year old next season, i start to question that maybe is a noYou need to look at the worth he brings for your side I suppose. Your club has been good at doing the right things at the right time to always contend.I know its 1 year, but when you say his 30 year old next season, i start to question that maybe is a no
Yes i do agree, it all depends on where our club think where Conway and Edwards are at... These 2 have big wraps and good potential. Stanley is probably having his best season in years this year.Your club has been good at doing the right things at the right time to always contend.
I understand that every cats fan has their own opinions.
But this does seem like a classic cats smart trade IMO.
No offence but Marshall is a huge step up from the players you just mentioned. The main question for Geelong should be do they honestly believe they have a list capable of contending for the next 2-3 seasons if the answer is yes this is a no brainer trade and on the off chance st kilda are keen they should be jumping at itYes i do agree, it all depends on where our club think where Conway and Edwards are at... Can they see Conway playing 15 games next year and Stanley and Edwards filling the rest! Or do they think Marshall is the one for the next 3 years
Absolutely he is, but I think what FD is getting at is whether Marshall is so good that he's worth 900k P/A (and a likely FRP - if not more) just to be a 2-3 year bridge to those players when they're ready. No offence but Marshall is a huge step up from the players you just mentioned. I do think Marshall is the kind of ruckman Scott likes though. 3 years is a good transition for Edwards who is another type of ruckman Scott likes. Conway, who reminds me more of a Nankervis type operator, is probably less favoured though he's the ruck I personally like the most.Absolutely he is, but I think what FD is getting at is whether Marshall is so good that he's worth 900k P/A (and a likely FRP - if not more) just to be a 2-3 year bridge to those players when they're ready.
It might sound like a resounding yes to some, but put yourself in the shoes of Chris Scott, who as a coach is notorious for not rating the ruck position.
I just think with the way he approaches it, he'd rather save the cap space for a play at Reid/Butters/Walsh/Cadman over the next 18 months, get another decent draftee in the door, and just go with a 'ruckman by committee' as per usual until the young guys can take over.
Mate is been so long we wouldn't know what to do with him anywayA top 6 ruck in the comp is going to land in the lap of Geelong.
Thanks St.Kilda. Well done.

If Marshall leaves because of TDK coming in, I'm not sure thats a positive for the saints.
Marshall currently the better player imo.TDK & a 1st rounder vs Marshall is definitely a positive.
Marshall is 30. TDK is 26.

I agree with both of you. Marshall is the best player but TDK and a first/Conway would be better for the Saints, who are in no mans land.Marshall currently the better player imo.
St Kilda have got rocks in there head if they are paying 1.7 million on TDK. No ruckman in the comp is worth that. And especially when they have a gun ruckman in Marshall which has been there since his 1st game and is probably getting paid 1/2 of that amountIts actually incredible how Geelong get this stuff done.
You just need to respect it.
But St.Kilda have butchered this enormously.

He’s been easily top 3 the last two years (could so easily have made the AA team two years ago- 50-odd coaches votes to 35 or so for English) and last year it was laughable that he didn’t make the AA squad (got about twice as many coaches votes as Cameron), but this year he went in very underdone and has almost certainly been carrying something (apparently a back at the moment) and has dropped off a fair bit.Go on then.
Apart from the obvious 3 spit out the rest for me.
