Indeed. The fluctuating form of our season exactly correlates to to Fyfe's form and availability.
He was the difference in the first 8 weeks. Hell he may win a Brownlow off that patch of form which is where we were unbeatable.

The other thing that has gone wrong in terms of our form is no one taking big marks around the ground. Early part of the year Fyfe, Sandi and Clarke were all grabbing a lot more catches giving us an easy out of D-50 from kick-ins and better value for inside 50 entries.

We don't have many midfielders kicking goals either compared to earlier in the year.

In the end we'll get every team where we want them. Hawks at Subi, Weagles in Melbourne.

There are no excuses.

The Eagles have pretty much set us up, I don't we will ever get such a favourable draw.

Add in the fact this year we will go in with a fresh Mcfarlin, Johnson, Fyfe and Ballas and lots of rest for the others. If we don't win it this year, its going to be hard without breeding new players.

Fyfe needs to remind the umps of their job. That's what he'll need to do if he wants to be captain.

The problem is that Razor Ray thinks his job is to be as visible as possible and when everyone forgets he's the star of the show, he'll pull a few incomprehensible rule interpretations out of his arse to remind them.

I really hope there is a switch that can be flicked.

To be fair our last three months of footy hasn't been great on the eyes. We need two STRONG performances to finish this season off

Pyke or someone did it and the ump just ran around him; all he saw was an obstacle in his path.
Yep. Don't know how this wasn't pulled up by the ump WHO WAS LOOKING STRAIGHT AT IT

It's funny, for the last 6 weeks I've been playing the finals out in my head, how we'd like it to finish in an ideal world. Wrap up the minor flag and rest most of the team for the away game in Round 23 - check. Eagles 2nd and Hawks 3rd - Hawks have to travel and lose - check. Get to play the Hawks in Perth instead of Melbourne - we either play them here or not at all. Play West Coast in the Grand Final, inexperienced GF team on a neutral ground - most likely if we get there.

We really could not have dreamt of a more favourable situation, if we win the PF our best players wouldn't have travelled in over a month, we'd, touch wood, have our best 22 in the team.

I know we really haven't played well for the best part of 2 months but it really is set up perfectly, I really feel like if this much has gone to plan it's almost destiny. If we don't win this season I can't see how we ever will. We're two games away, hell possibly 2 quarters away, from a flag. It really is so close, I just hope we can click.

its been happening for weeks now. Ross is just lulling the remaining contenders into a false sense of security with our poor decision making and poor skill execution.Come Sept 25th the switch will be flicked on and we will have players hitting targets by hand and foot, players making the correct decisions, tackling correctly and having a plan to clear our D50 decisively.

Hang on I must be dreaming, we what we are. We won it our way with a little help from the "spirit of Steve Bradbury" any May that spirit keep helping us in our next game.

Freo led yesterday for the whole game after Walters kicked first goal. And season-wise we have led the whole season bar a couple of weeks.

Bradbury on the other hand:

(Great win btw).

But I agree with the sentiment :)

Surely won't get a gig for PF/GF???

That's fine. You're joking if you honestly think that Sydney would have beaten west coast, especially converting at 30%. Adelaide and the bulldogs would have beaten them too, and probably Hawthorn.

Not a hope in hell. Swans wouldn't have let the Eagles get on a roll in Q2. I think Eagles would have won, but the others, no chance. Hawks were insipid for large parts. Tippett/Goodes/JPK would have destroyed them as Kennedy/Lecras/Hurn did on Friday.
WB/Adelaide are not Top 4 sides for a reason. Good sides, but Swans (esp. at home) would have comfortably accounted for either. They were tenacious, ferocious and well structured + excellent games from their stars.

Why it's so hard for you West Coast flog supporters to understand I have no idea. The efficiency was bad from both teams because the conditions were terrible for football. Swirling unpredictable strong gusting winds with a heavy and slippery surface.

I hate to break it to you but West Coast would have looked average on Saturday as well.

I would hope the slime players are thinking the same thing. Could be in for a big shock vs Sydney.

Trying to remain positive (and to ignore the gloating of Eagles' fans at work this morning...you'd think that they had already won the thing).

The Crows should be able to give the Hawks a run for their money on Friday night, and then hopefully the Hawks' older players will be banged up and dreading yet another trip back to Subi. If we can grind out a result against the hawks, then I guess anything can happen on grand final day once we are there.

I have a nagging feeling that this may end up like 2010....an older, more defensive focused team (us) runs into a young team which is full of confidence (WC) and falls short. But who knows.

Oh I more than understand you have no idea. The conditions were terrible for football? I take it you didn't watch the game the night prior? There was heavy wind all night in the west coast v hawks game, and it had been raining during the day so it was just as slippery. You do realise the games were played at the same place about 15 hours apart right?
