I actually thought we played pretty bloody well against Sydney save for the last 5-10 mins when they threw the kitchen sink at us. Sandi should have been payed that mark in the last and the game would have been iced. If we play with the same ferocity in 2 weeks we will account for the Hawks.

To be fair, if you look closely the Swans player was hanging from Sandi's neck and head with one arm only - it has to be at least 2 arms and the player cannot be Sandi for that free to be paid.

Just had my weekly Monday morning debrief with the deputy who is a big wiggle-lover. He reckons he had the flight tickets all ready to go from three quarter time on Saturday, but wouldn't click "go" until he knew for sure that the weags wouldn't be playing Freo in the prelim. He reckons he's confident against any team except us.

And so he should be. We've lost to them once over the last 8 games? And even then the result benefited both teams. North and Freo have the ruck contest to nullify NicNat and Sinclair.

We had 9 more clangers in a windier, wetter game. Sure. We had 6 less marks overall, but 7 more marks inside 50, we had 25 more 1 percenters (56 to 31), both west coast and hawthorn hard marginally lower disposal efficiencys than freo and sydney, which again, is due to the poorer conditions, and I dare say we received more holding the ball free kicks too, despite your delusion that is was bruise free, as the pressure on hawthorn all game was what caused the turnovers and errors. Where did you find the stat for unforced turnovers?

In my experience, Eagles supporters are the most self-righteous, one-eyed, arrogant, self-appreciating, and generally the most dis-tasteful of all supporters. The GF is played at the MCG...roughly 2727 kms outside their comfort zone (as the crow flies).

In recent seasons West Coast's record v top 8 teams away from Perth reads like this:

2015

Played 4. Won 1 (Rich), lost 3 (WB's, Norf and Adelaide - WC were betting favourites in all 3 losses).

2014

Played 3. Lost all three (Gee, Haw and Ess).

2013

Played 3. Lost all three (Port, Haw and Coll).

2012

Played 5. Won 1 (Norf), lost 4 (2 x Coll, Adel and Haw).

Total

Played 15. Won 2, lost 13. (Three games v grand finalists).

Their form (v top 8 teams) on the other side of the rabbit proof fence is woeful (see recent Adelaide game).

I think you show more class by winning the close ones. Last year Sydney were a certainty to win the flag but didn't show up. On Friday night Hawks didn't show up. That's finals football!

I think Sydney would have lost to WC as well, but it would have been a helluva lot closer than the Hawks strange effort.

Guys like Goodes, Shaw, McVeigh and Tippett had close to their best games for the season. I'm not sure they can back that up again, they threw the kitchen sink at Freo. If they don't lose to North, they will be spent for the prelim. Not sure on how Parker, Jack and Smith are tracking.
