Rucci's article today, factual error or ruse ?

"No SA-based team has been chosen by the AFL to play in London since 1994 when Adelaide faced West Coast in a match that became infamous for Crows full forward Tony Modra being deregistered for his behaviour on the team flight back to Australia."

2000 AFL London, England The Oval Melbourne v. Adelaide 4,500

I am sick to death of this idiot.

What is it Rucci you either did no research (as usual) or just pretending that the game in 2000 never happened so that you could put a sledge in your article and try and paint this picture that the AFC had previously ruined the ability for SA teams to play in London.

Are you so desperate now that you will deliberately bend the truth or withhold information just so that you can throw a sledge against the AFC in your articles.

Seriously its getting old either do you job properly or quit, simple !!!!!

Im pretty sure you did play another match overseas. Loose reporting but that incident pretty much is all that 1994 match is remembered for.

Now if I remember correctly didnt we play in London in late 2000 against Melbourne ? I remember we lost and it was a really bad game. Anyone confirm whether this game was indeed from London and if so, Rucci has opted to pretend it doesnt exist in order to bring up some sledge against Adelaide or is he just reporting again on without doing any homework.

He cant even write a Port Adelaide article without a sledge towards the AFC and factual errors.

October 7, 2000:

Melbourne 5.10 d Adelaide 3.3, The Oval, London (I've got the figures in my stats)

You'd think he'd remember that game. We lost.

Of course he remembers the game, but if he mentioned it in the article then he wouldnt have been able to allude to the AFC apparently ruining the ability for SA teams to play in London by the 1994 game.

Sneaky bugger young Rooch isn't he?

An enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in a conundrum wrapped in a big pile of horsesh*t.

Modra may have played up on an aircraft, but none of our blokes has yet snotted someone a quarter his size at an airport, or thumped someone while out walking the dogs.
Ask West Coast if they'd like to trade for Brogan.

The job of a professional journalist is to write credible and generally unbiased articles. Not to 'troll' because if that's what he was doing, then he should resign and post his opinions on a forum such as this instead of parading his incompetence for all to see in his capacity as the 'Chief Football Writer' of one of the most ridiculed and laughed at newspapers in the nation.

yep - I reckon he does it deliberately......

face it - it's a long cold winter in Adelaide - The Powers are in hibernation - worse still the AFC is on the rampage - even daydreaming about returning to the motherland in October isn't enough to fill in the entire day - so he entertains himself by logging on and devising a trolling article that will keep him amused for tomorrow.....

I dunno about that.

How about it being Shane Tongerie's other good game?

How about Simon Tregenza bouncing the ball and seeing it disappear behind him? (hang on, that always happened).

How about the streaker carrying the life-sized Stephen Kernahan cut-out?

How about the greatest ever game of kick-to-kick at half time that had the Oval security staff convinced they had a full scale riot on their hands?

How about getting home and finding a message left that a Crows player of the time (who was a friend of the in-laws) had tickets for us in the players enclosure?

Ok, I don't expect other people to remember the last one. :D

One thing he did in his Roast that made me chuckle today was the made up letter from an Adelaide player named Brent, asking why he is always being compared unfavourably with other players of his draft year that Adelaide could have taken.

His advice - when you're on the dais receiving your premiership medal to grab the mike and say "xxxxx you were wrong" (xxx representing those critics) a la Choco Williams style.

Ahhhhhhhhh, DT ....... you're becoming famous!! ;) :p

He also says Adelaide denies "suggestions" Trent has a knee problem

No mention of who suggested it and who denied it. Typical Rucci rubbish.

I can't beleive he takes himself seriously.

He has even roasted the Crows over the Gladstone appeal and not getting a table. He could not possibly get any smaller than he is.

I was just re-watching a few recent games with a fellow Crow just back from overseas - the Essendon, St Kilda and Sydney matches.

3 Channel 9 matches - the same 3 bits of colour commentary from Dwayne each time.

Brent Reilly gets some early touches.... "he's only just starting to repay the Crows who took him at #12 in the 2001 draft. Of course, the Crows bypassed Nick Dal Santo to claim Reilly"

Kenny McG takes his first mark. "McGregor, who was drafted by the Crows as a 17 year old. The Crows could only take one 17 year old, and they passed on Matthew Pavlich to take McGregor".

I hope Reilly, or any other player, doesn't waste the chance to bask in premiership glory by having a shot at the sadly obsessed.

I was disappointed with Rucci's Roast today. He only had four separate underhanded digs at the Crows. Oh, and one smooch session with Dwayne Russell.

I know who i would rather have and like ive always said we got the better player and i am sure Brent would have no complaints being at a good club rather than that rabble

You really are such a bunch of SNAGs over here aren't you? You're just feeding his ego with all this nonsense you silly boys. :)

So what. His reaction to this is irrelevant.

If reading our coments boosts his ego then he has more problems than even we thought possible.

We are nobodies remember!:D

I thought it was a dig at the AFL as well... maybe he wants a holiday to London and is hoping the AFL give Port the gig as a preseason jaunt?
