All 3 won't be able to play in the same side together so where does it live Fraser and Wood.
Wood was recruited to help fix our rucking situation so you'd think they'd have to perist with him and i'm not sure there is a spot for Fraser in the forward line given that Dawes should be playing regularly next year.

Jolly and Wood would be a good tandem in my opinion. Not sure Mick likes to play 2 like that and I think each of them would prefer the majority of the ruckwork themselves so we shall see.

Not sure where that leaves Josh at all to be honest.

think jolly and fraser will def be the better combination with fraser player a more permanant role forward. mick has shown all last season he prefers fraser to wood when fit so why would this change? also feel fraser is better suited to playing forward!!

Depth in our rucking division! Who would have thought..........

The in form ruck or rucks (X2) play.

Keep Fraser on our list unless we get a good pick for him IMO.

Jolly and Wood to share the ruck duties. Fraser to be trialled up forward if he is retained on our list for next season. He could be a solid third tall forward. It's worth a try, at least. You never know, he could be reinvigorated without the pressure of being the main ruckman.

Honestly, Dawes has done nothing to impress me yet. I'd rather trade him if we get the right deal and rely on Fraser or Rusling up forward.

Put Fraser in the goal square, he would command a good defender each week, and he would at worst contest the ball and bring it to the ground for Didak, Davis, Dick, Thomas, Medhurst etc.

rutten, glass, scarlett, lake will not just out mark and embarrass fraser, they will run off him all day and night and twice on sundays

Please understand this fraser is a FOLLOWER, basically a floater that creates mismatches by roaming the ground. He is NOT a FULL FORWARD nor is he a CHF, we have better and more equipped player for both positions

Basically if a ruckman was going to play in the goal square, jolly and then wood are better

I do disagree with you Opti, but I know your feelings on Fraser as a forward, so I won't argue too much.

I'll just say that I would still see Anthony as taking the absolute best defender each week, as I do slightly agree Josh is'nt a natural forward.

I don't totally agree about Jolly or Wood as better forwards either, as Jolly averaged less then a goal a game this season, and Wood didnt exactly set the scoreboard alight either.

I'm just trying to figure out a way to get all 3 into the one side, as if all 3 are fit, I can see Wood as the one who misses out, and I really don't want this.

I was waiting for the "....NOT!" but it never came.

Yeah... I was thinking "or he could get outmarked by Peter Bell".

I'm worried about getting game time into both keefe and macnamara in the twos to develop their game. Wood or Fraser will be back at the twos playing in the ruck leaving room for one other ruckman and the other will be played at a completely different position.

We will most likely get rid of Fraser, as he would have some percieved worth and could help facilitate the Ball trade.

Otherwise, I think the Jolly / Fraser combo is best, with Fraser playing as third tall when he isn't in the ruck. This is not a role that he is good enough to own without the compliment of playing backup ruck as well, which could allow us to go into the game with four mids resting up on the bench.

It could also play (a little bit) to Fraser's need to be on the ground for a lot of minutes to have a good impact (ala the theory that he plays best when he rucks alone).

I agree with optimax, btw P.Bell says high.;)

Fraser's Role 2010 & Beyond

Given the imminent arrival of Darren Jolly and in the expectation that Fraser will stay - what will his 2010 role be.

I think he will go and play as a permanent forward and do no ruck at all. His knees are an issue as they were with Adam Goodes. Sydney were smart enough to protect Goodes and take him out of the ruck altogether.

Josh has a huge tank and can play forward - would be a difficult match up for a lot of opposition clubs. Keep him out of the ruck altogether and we will get another good 4 years from him & a dangerous forward option. Jolly can extend Fraser's career as Josh in the ruck will only have 2 more injury riddled years.

Do we really need ANOTHER thread like this?

A big tank is not all that important to a permanent forward. And Josh isn't good enough to be a primary forward target.

If he stays, he will be the back up ruckman who plays in the forwardline when Jolly is rucking - and does all the ruckwork in the forwardline allowing Jolly to play behind the ball.

I think we should use him to secure Ball somehow, though.

Re: Fraser's Role 2010 & Beyond

I hope we trade Fraser he isn't a ruckman and he can't mark overhead as a forward he is more of a wingman type, he will struggle to be in our best 22 next year.

Re: Fraser's Role 2010 & Beyond

Fraser is a much better ruckman than people give him credit for. He and Jolly should fill our ruck possie with Wood as back up. Have seen Fraser take on Cox siglehandedly and beat him. Jolly will allow us to conservr Josh 's body more and I see this as a real win win

This is ideal. We have been short a ruckman and now that we have solved this it would be mad to put ourselves back in that predicament. Bryan should be delisted, Keefe isnt ready so we need all of Jolly Wood and Fraser competing for the 2 positions available
