When your ruck sucks and is out of form and is carried, what message does that send to the rest of the team? You need some depth so the bloke has the same risk of being dropped as everyone else

I mean you can drop players even if there isn't healthy depth.

Strachan could even be preferable because he's only slightly worse than ROB yet he's probably on 1/3rd the salary

ROBs fine. He's not a bad player, but he's not an elite ruck. He's a role player and he does an OK job, with the ability to play a really good game once a month.

Needs to be the guy again that has good second efforts though and marks the ball around the ground. He's capable but for some reason has lost that over the past year and a bit

ROB was poor by his own standards & given he dropped more marks than he caught, he was usually a liability once the ball hit the ground.

Blitz on the other hand is like an extra midfielder.

Would swap them without a 2nd thought!

The issue with ROB is his bloated contract.

He was at his best in 2019/20 when he had something to prove.

Step back a minute. The original comment was Geelong sometimes play 3 rucks. You down played them by saying they were athlete’s ie not rucks. You then give us ROBs stats against the athlete as some badge of honour even even though a couple of posts earlier you called him an athlete, so which is it? Blicavs is a good ruckman and ROB did really well against him or ROB the ruckman did really well against an athlete?

But really you shouldn’t have bothered because it’s already been mentioned how well ROB did in his first game back after being ………dropped!

You also didn’t address my question, have you ever been critical of anything Crows related. You’re a grown man who has seen a lot of football, surely you can pass on negative commentary, it’s doesn’t have to be all positive, you lose credibility when you are so lopsided. Nankervis is a lot better than average and has been important to Richmond’s success.

West Coast still had Lycett who was decent that year. Collingwood had Grundy, do the Pies make the GF without him? They were a kick away from winning the flag, was that Grundys fault they didn’t?

Geelong didn’t play traditional ruckman but the role they played was very important. I’m Sydney had a dominant ruckman could they have been more competitive?

No one is saying the ruck needs to be a lumbering ruck of the old days, they can be a mobile ruck. Ultimately to win a flag you need quality players across the team, ruck is no different.

If you have quality players across the team, ruck doesn't mean s**t. The problem is we haven't had that quality across the team for a long time.

Getting a good ruck comes after midfield, defence and forward line in terms of priority.
