Apart from my source laughing at this suggestion, when you realistically look at it the following needs to looked at:
1. Can we afford to have him? Well yes we could, but it would put a massive strain in our cap considering Juddy will be coming off his highly front loaded contract at the end of next year & Kreuzer will be after another contract.
2. Can we get the trade done to adequately compensate the Saints? Yes, but it will cost a Murphy, Gibbs or Kreuzer. (Not going to happen). The Saints are not dimwits, they will not settle for an average to good ruckman in either Warnock or Hampson (especially that they have McEvoy). Lucas (who amongst some has been mentioned) has only shown glimpses of the player he may be, BUT at this stage has shown to be injury prone, lacks class below his knees and has questionable foot skills. Draft picks, well we have settled for Buckley, so the first pick we will be able to offer them unless a trade is done is a 2nd rounder. Lets not forget that we are talking about a top 15 player in the comp. They will not settle for a bag of lolllies.
3. He puts a price on his head and enters the PSD ala Luke Ball. Forget it, GWS & GC will be all over it. They wont care what price its at. We will finish in the top 5, leaving the likes of Melbourne, Richmond, Nth, Adelaide, West Coast & Essendon to have a crack and could afford any terms he sets.
I guess his and his families much publicised love for Carlton always draws us back to the possibility that he wants to come over. Well i can tell you, that the moment he stepped foot at Moorabbin he lost that love, and we were deemed just another team.
