With russell not even an emergency for the first final, this must add to speculation he is on the move. Is clearly in our best 25 at worst, something certainly up.

Stay tuned in to TFS as they are saying they know what will happen to Ratten if we win or lose.

They wouldn't announce a sacking now, would they?
What the hell. I'll turn it on tonight.

OMGSH NO NO WAIT I KNOW WHAT IT IS!! It's not his sacking they're announcing, i think it has something to do with the Brendan Fevola interview they are also screening tonight!

I reckon Fevola will reveal that Jeannie Pratt has given Ratten an ultimatum that he must recruit Fev at the end of the year OR the sponsorship from VISY be revoked. Ratten refused and so, win loss or draw this week, will be sacked and and AND (wait for it) will be the co-coach, along with Malthouse, of Melbourne next year.

FIGJAM.

What's the bet this will be the biggest media beat up with what Barrett will say about Rats? Seriously some of these stories he supposedly breaks are embarrassing.

Damian Barrett on Ratts.

Ratts on notice - tenure on the line dependent on the result this Sunday.

A win = two year extension
A loss = one year offer with an option for a second.
Catastrophe = no contract

Sam Newman says it is absolute rubbish. Quite rightly. Then used a scenario where we are 5 points down with Eddie Betts 20 metres out to prove his point.

Reports are:
We lose: Ratts gets 1 year contract
We win: Rattes gets 2 year contract
We lose badly: Most likely, Ratts is gawn.

What i found to be of concern was that Barrett was talking about having information from our board and knowing that some board members are undecided about Ratten. If this is so sack these board members who leaked such information.

wouldent care if ratten loses his job. if carlton lose i'll be ropeable.

remember that it is a buisness and who in there right minds thinks the team as it's built now is going to make any noise.

If Ratten gets sacked, I will be unbelievably pissed off.

Me too...I believe the current coaching panel have done a decent job...in 2011

I don't want anyone else coaching, and neither do the players from their comments

Bad last when he came in, absolute rabble. And we still don't have the best overall list in the competition. We've improved each year, we would've been top 4 in any other year, he has the backing of the players, he's improved each year as coach and listens to others, we have no idea how a new coach would do a better job with our list, and for some reason his job is in doubt.

Intersting that watching guys like Malthouse & Lyon on television last night thinking that Ratt's has done a good job and his new contract shouldn't be in doubt

Get the impression that some of these board member types have never really had to work for anything and expect success being handed to them on a plate. Sure, we all want a flag, but we're fighting against 17 other clubs and we're coming off our worst ever decade. Get some perspective.

This.....major change now would set us back as we are moving forwards. We don't quite have the cattle, not far off but...

I would hope the board members are there for their analytical skills.

This.

I'm personally disappointed we need to wait on one match to make a decision.
Ratten should have had the contract already.

why?

Two years if we win is enough. hes no longer doing a complete rebuild and theres not a man in the blue army who doesnt believe we are a genuine chance next year. I favour this even if the match is close and we lose.

If we lose then hes failed one of the key KPIs - and is probably rightly denied an extended contract because of it - but at least he will get another year to prove himself.

The board is there to run the club as a business in a responsible manner.

Given that the team has steadily improved since Ratten took over together with players publically stated comments of support I can't see how getting rid of Ratts whatever the result on Sunday is a responsible decision.

He should be granted a 2 year extension.
