Bloke from work who plays for Casey reckons Fev is back on the p1ss, says he buys a few jugs after games and dishes out pots to all the boys.

A few frothies could be the reason for his recent form spike.

I know it's a massive risk, but how good would it be seeing Fev in the forward 50!

Put him on a rookie contract, imagine the membership/ratings/$$$

Any thoughts on why he specified 2012? Why not say "ever"?

After reading the HS report, I think it's clear he'll be in the 2013 draft and after reading this comment, Carlton will pick him up.

Thanks for the confirmation. :thumbsu:

You miss the point.....while what you say might be true, these represent a valuable and limited resource, ones the club pay good money for....why would you want to drain a limited and valuable resource on minding a child (with a limited time in the game) when they could be putting their time towards more positive measures?

I don't think I miss the point at all. Is your method of "babysitting" the only way you think a football club could think of to motivate an attention-seeking AFL footballer who knows that his talent should have produced more, but who's legacy will be that expressed by folks here if he doesn't get the opportunity to be part of the ultimate success? Really, you can't think of any other way?

What I see here are narrow minded opinions being offered by folks who would rather see their views reinforced than have their stereotypes challenged.

In fact, I would go as far as to say IF (and it's probably never going to happen) but IF the club gave the bloke another chance, they would prefer to see him and the club fail, rather than have to admit that they might have read it wrong.

You see wrong :)

"Babysitting" is a nice way to re-frame my argument to suit yours......however you want to frame it, it is a drain on resources that could (arguably) be more efficiently distributed elsewhere (into a 20-23 yo with upside)

Of course it could all go well....I've been around long enough to know the odds are against it.

My tabloid trash ?
Erm, filler article, follow-up article, shit hypothetical article?

I could think of a few more but the point has been made.

I didn't re-frame your argument, I just put it back to you as presented. My point is that draining resources is not the only way to motivate someone. I can see a tactic of "do it our way or you don't play in the seniors, simple", being just as effective in this case.

I realise the odds are against it, but then you have the Barry Hall example. A talented player (although probably not as talented as Fev) who, if he'd not played the game after leaving the Swans, would have been remembered exclusively as an out-of-control short-tempered thug.

He goes to the Bulldogs and becomes a poster-child for restraint and controlled aggression even in the face of extreme provocation (do you think it's a coincidence that he wants to be "remembered as a Bulldogs player"?)

You shouldn't under-estimate the power of how someone wants to be remembered as a positive influence in their later years. In this case it's the later years of playing careers, but in other contexts, it's later years in general. I can cite many examples of politicians who'd rather be remembered for their actions and speeches after they'd left politics than for what they did when they were in office. And generally speaking, the more heinous their "official" actions, the more contrite were their attitudes afterward.

You should have heard the flog who rang up guesSEN and mentioned that the Russell for Butcher trade was on. :o

A Collingwood supporter then suggested that they could trade Leon Davis to WC and receive Mitch Brown.

:o
Leon Davis will probably go to Perth, but certainly not for Mitch Brown. :o

Jon Ralph is convinced that we have a lot of tradeable players who can land us a player.

Who? We really only have Bower and he wouldn't get us much at the table anyway. Maybe Kane Lucas but his form has fallen off the earth.

I can't think of anyone else unless it's a McLean or Curnow or something a little 'left-field'

Does anyone know if Dylan Buckley has been really injured this year, or has it been just a ploy for us to keep him under the radar, and not have to use a 1st round pick for him as touted pre 2011.

Dylan Buckley, son of Carlton's Jim, given permission to train on a modified program under rules as a potential father/son selection.

Potential father/son selection?

A friend at work who knows someone close to StKilda reckons there are a few clubs interested in securing Ross Lyon as coach - Carlton is one of them.

Last i heard (month or so ago) he was defenitely injured. Not sure about hows he's been tracking since then.. lets hope he makes it through to our second round pick though!

Please for the sake of all things holy - No. I've only ever coached a championship winning junior basketball program but for heavens sake I could have coached that St. Kilda team to a couple of grand finals.

The result of the second grand final says more about Ross Lyon's inability to coach in pressure situations than it does for the Collingwood Football Club.

Besides, this team is NOT built for scoring 50 points in a game and winning.

Really can't see that happening. With Rattens improvement this year, he'll be coaching us next year.
