To the majority of BF posters, it is clear who the few posters are that have reliable sources (ep, bib). On top of that, there are a handful of others who sometimes come across certain information, which again is easy to believe based on their history (C4 for example)

I posted one rumour based on information from someone that really should have known, that Murphy wouldn't play until mid-season.
We all know how that has ended up

I'll leave the rumours to the people that get to a one on one basis.

In light of the recent cope-swappers from the NRL, a rumour of at least 12 people interested in changing codes has surfaced. I have heard the following:

• Lance Armstrong to Hawthorn
• Matthew Mitcham to Essendon
• Sally Robbins to Collingwood
• Dean Waugh and Shane Lee to GWS
• Andy Murray to the Western Bulldogs
• Greg Bird to St Kilda
• Roy Jones Jnr to Brisbane
• Alberto Contador, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Yao Ming, Roger Federer, Greg Inglis, Tiger Woods to Carlton

(I hope these subtle jabs aren't lost on people, even the one at my own club!)
I've also heard the Essendon ruck division is very keen to add Ian Thorpe to their ranks, saying he'd "work well with Mitcham and existing players". Not exactly sure what that means. St Kilda are also interested in drafting dartsman Phil Taylor as a small(ish) forward, saying he, "works well with small pricks". Lost on me, again. As well as the two listed players, GWS are also interested in Scott Selwood. I have absolute no source on any of this, but expect it to be taken as fact and will be nothing short of obnoxious and incredibly offended if it isn't.

Do you suggest I make my rumours (better known as 'blatant lies') seem credible by making them a little realistic? How about this: "I have received word from an impeccable, but unnameable source that Matthew Pavlich is unhappy at Freo and is seeking a trade out. Although being an Adelaide tyke, he is known to have been a big Carlton supporter growing up."? Aside from the fact that I wish this was true, I was just trying to have a little fun with the whole 'media going overboard' deal in the wake of two (you'd think it was fifty) NRL players signing up to the AFL. If you didn't like it, fair enough, it was a miss then. But dude, lighten up a bit, k?

It's still a rumour after all I guess - most won't happen, even if the rumour had some element of truth to it in the beginning.

At least with posters such as yourself, you can believe that that this element of truth may exist, rather than it being just some bullshit point scoring exercise.

Rumour is FACT that the girlfriend of Bryce Gibbs has been cheating on him and Bryce knows about it and has let the guy know how he feels about it.

I don't know how long this has been going on or why on earth she would want to do this but them's the facts. I know this from a women I work with who is friends with the guy thats with her. I couldn't care less if you believe me or not...it's just what I've heard and this woman is a Blues fan and she isn't that type of person.

Not sure if it's finished now or if it played any part in the longer then expected signature for his contract but I hope everything works out ok for him regardless of him being a footballer it just isn't a nice thing to go through.
